About the Role

Hello Heart is seeking a Senior Health Data Researcher to drive clinical and economic evidence to showcase how Hello Heart products help members understand and improve their heart health through technology and behavioral science.

Reporting into our VP, Commercial Actuary, you will work closely with Medical Affairs, Data Science, Product, Sales, and Marketing to develop research that supports scientific publications, white papers, peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, and client-facing evidence. You will apply your expertise in statistics, claims analysis, and clinical research to formulate hypotheses, prepare datasets, conduct statistical analyses, draft manuscripts, incorporate co-author feedback, respond to peer reviews, and present findings to diverse audiences.

This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys rigorous research, clear communication, cross-functional collaboration, and turning complex data into evidence that supports better heart health outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners to prioritize clinical and economic research topics.
  • Generate research questions and develop analytical plans for key publication and evidence-generation priorities.
  • Identify, organize, query, and analyze diverse datasets, including clinical, claims, electronic health record (EHR), and engagement data.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, including multilevel modeling, causal inference methods, propensity score matching, mixed-effects modeling, and longitudinal analyses, and sensitivity testing.
  • Collaborate with co-authors to incorporate feedback and finalize analyses, manuscripts, white papers, and abstracts.
  • Respond to anonymous peer reviews, including repeat analyses and manuscript revisions, to support timely resubmission.
  • Identify relevant conferences for abstract submission and present ongoing research when appropriate.
  • Stay current on scientific research related to cardiovascular health, digital health, behavioral science, chronic disease, health economics, and public health.
  • Contribute to data summaries, research protocols, institutional review board (IRB) materials, and other research documentation.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, accurate, and actionable insights for clinical, technical, commercial, and executive audiences.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong AI fluency, with the ability to design AI-enabled workflows, such as building or customizing agents others can use while maintaining accuracy, privacy, and human review.
  • Graduate degree in a clinical field, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related field, such as Master of Science (MS), Master of Public Health (MPH), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), with 5+ years of clinical research experience.
  • Have previous experience co-authoring relevant clinical publications.
  • Strong statistical programming experience with R, Python, SQL, MS Excel, or other relevant analytical tools.
  • Strong data skills, including data cleaning, data management, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience planning and implementing complex statistical analyses while managing deadlines across multiple research priorities.
  • Experience working with clinical, claims, electronic health record (EHR), engagement, or other healthcare datasets.
  • Experience testing claims and enrollment data for errors, including actuarial summaries and cuts by cohort.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Open and responsive to feedback on manuscripts, analyses, and other written work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
