American College of Education (ACE) is seeking a creative, organized, and highly motivated Video Editor (Contract) to help expand our video content library and bring ACE stories to life across social media, digital advertising, and other marketing channels. In this hands-on editing role, you will work in a high-volume, fast-moving creative environment and contribute to a wide range of video projects. You will primarily edit short-form content for organic social media and paid social advertising, while also supporting interviews, testimonials, promotional videos, longer-form content, motion graphics, animations, and other marketing projects.

You will serve as both an experienced editor and a proactive creative partner, taking direction, asking thoughtful questions, managing multiple projects independently, incorporating feedback, and executing revisions efficiently without requiring extensive oversight.

Compensation

ACE is committed to paying a competitive wage while staying true to our mission of maintaining high quality, affordable programs for our students. The following outlines the compensation per deliverable for this contract:

  • Short-form videos (15 – 90 seconds) = $250–$350
  • Standard Video (3–15 minutes) = $400–$500
  • Long-form video (15+ minutes) = $600–$750

*Compensation not to exceed $2,000 per month

Day to Day Responsibilities

In this role you will wear different hats, but your skills will be especially essential in the following areas: 

  • Edits high-quality video content for ACE's organic and paid social media channels, digital advertising, and broader marketing initiatives.
  • Supports ACE's goal of building a large, diverse, high-volume library of video content through numerous projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Primarily creates short-form, social-first video content, while also supporting longer-form videos, interviews, testimonials, promotional content, motion graphics, animations, event content, and other video projects as assigned.
  • Transforms provided raw footage into polished, engaging final videos based on creative briefs, project requirements, and stakeholder direction.
  • When appropriate, independently develops the structure and creative treatment of videos, including selecting interview clips and B-roll, establishing pacing and story flow, creating hooks, selecting music, and incorporating graphics and animation.
  • Creates and incorporates motion graphics, animated elements, captions, titles, transitions, and other visual treatments.
  • Performs color correction and grading, audio editing and mixing, and other post-production work necessary to produce professional final deliverables.
  • Optimizes video framing, pacing, aspect ratios, captions, and other elements for social platforms and paid social placements.
  • Applies ACE brand guidelines and applicable compliance requirements consistently across video projects.
  • Manages multiple video projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
  • Maintains highly organized project files, source footage, graphics, audio, and other assets using established ACE file structures and naming conventions.
  • Properly packages, stores, and delivers final videos, editable project files, and associated assets within ACE systems.
  • Incorporates stakeholder feedback accurately and efficiently through established review and approval workflows.
  • Collaborates with the Social Media Manager, Creative Marketing Manager, Project Manager, Content Marketing Manager, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Participates in project communication and reviews through Wrike and other ACE collaboration tools.
  • Asks clarifying questions early in the editing process to minimize unnecessary revisions and ensure alignment on creative direction.
  • Stays current on video editing techniques, social-first creative trends, platform best practices, and emerging editing technologies.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Demonstrates professional experience in video editing, ideally with approximately 2–5 years of relevant experience; however, portfolio quality, technical ability, and demonstrated experience will be weighted more heavily than years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
  • Demonstrated experience with motion graphics and animation.
  • Experience with professional video post-production workflows, including color correction/grading, audio editing and mixing, captioning, and visual finishing.
  • Strong commercial, advertising, social media, or marketing-focused video editing experience.
  • Ability to work from both detailed creative direction and more open-ended briefs requiring independent creative decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, files, deadlines, and rounds of feedback in a highly organized manner.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to receive, interpret, and implement creative feedback professionally.
  • Self-directed work style with the ability to manage priorities and complete projects without close supervision or micromanagement.
  • Ability to provide reasonable availability for communication and collaboration during U.S. Eastern and Central Time business hours. Fixed 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. working hours are not required.
  • Ability to meet project-specific deadlines.
  • Must provide their own professional-grade computer, internet connection, storage, and other hardware necessary to perform video editing work effectively. ACE will provide access to required ACE-approved software and applicable digital/stock assets.
  • Must be authorized to perform the contracted work in the United States and meet ACE's applicable contractor eligibility requirements.

The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with and receive communications from students and ACE employees in real time using online and other electronic media.
