Job description

About the Role

This is a senior individual contributor role on a small, high-velocity Series A engineering team building a logistics orchestration and decision-intelligence platform for cold-chain and high-value cargo. You'll own the data-heavy distributed systems that ingest IoT monitoring data, contextualize shipment risk in real time, and power predictive workflows for pharma and perishables shippers worldwide. Your work directly protects product integrity across global supply chains.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build backend services powering a cold-chain risk-management and logistics orchestration platform.

  • Own distributed systems that ingest, process, and contextualize IoT sensor and carrier data at scale.

  • Build predictive systems for on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance and automate exception-handling workflows.

  • Integrate partner-facing operational data sources including webhooks, queues, and carrier/sensor/vendor APIs.

  • Contribute to architecture decisions and influence product and engineering direction cross-functionally.

  • Build for reliability and scale in a regulated domain where shipment outcomes have real-world consequences.

What We're Looking For

  • 5–15 years of backend engineering experience building scalable, data-intensive distributed systems.

  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or Rust; hands-on Python and/or Java strongly preferred.

  • Experience with IoT data ingestion, processing, and normalization across multi-vendor sources.

  • Solid SQL and relational data modeling skills; NoSQL and ETL pipeline experience a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes).

  • Experience deploying and operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

  • Strong API design and development skills (REST and/or gRPC).

  • Solid software engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.

  • Domain knowledge in logistics, cold chain, supply chain, or IoT/telematics is a meaningful plus.

  • Familiarity with data security, privacy, and regulatory considerations in pharma or temperature-controlled logistics is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and ship end-to-end at a growth-stage startup.

  • Eligibility to work in the United States (visa sponsorship available).

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary $130,000–$160,000 annually, plus equity and cash bonus. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

Fully remote, United States.
