The Workday Practice

Alpha’s Workday Practice sits within MCO and specializes in Workday implementation, optimization, solution health assessments, release readiness, and Application Management Services (AMS). The practice works closely with Alpha’s broader advisory, data, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions and provide continuity from strategy and design through implementation and ongoing support.

The Role

Lead complex Workday Financials engagements, provide functional solution leadership, and translate sophisticated finance and accounting requirements into scalable Workday designs. The role combines executive client leadership, functional architecture, delivery oversight, team leadership, and hands-on understanding of Workday Financials.

What You’ll Do

  • Delivery Leadership: Own end-to-end functional delivery across complex Workday Financials engagements and serve as a senior escalation point for client stakeholders. Monitor delivery health, risks, dependencies, scope, quality, and key implementation milestones.
  • Discovery & Solution Design: Lead and participate in discovery workshops, design sessions, working groups, and solution reviews with CFOs, Controllers, finance teams, and project stakeholders. Translate business, accounting, control, and reporting requirements into clear functional requirements and Workday designs.
  • Functional Architecture: Translate high-level finance blueprints—including multi-entity ledger structures, FDM, consolidations, intercompany activity, allocations, and reporting requirements—into practical, scalable Workday configurations.
  • Functional Delivery: Provide solution leadership across General Ledger, Procure-to-Pay, Expenses, Banking & Settlement, Accounting Center, financial reporting, and other relevant Workday Financials capabilities.
  • Quality Assurance: Direct functional testing strategies, data conversion validation, UAT readiness and execution, defect resolution, cutover readiness, and post-go-live stabilization. Review solution designs and configuration for quality and consistency.
  • Client Leadership: Develop trusted relationships with CFOs, Controllers, finance leaders, and client project teams. Communicate design decisions, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly and provide pragmatic guidance throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Team Leadership & Resource Management: Direct, mentor, and support resource planning across Managers, Senior Consultants, and Consultants. Provide review and coaching to strengthen functional delivery quality and team capability.
  • Market & Thought Leadership: Participate in client roundtables, webinars, industry forums, and other thought-leadership activities, bringing practical perspectives on Workday, finance transformation, and trends affecting financial services organizations.
  • Innovation & Practice Contribution: Stay current on Workday releases, product roadmap developments, AI capabilities, and finance technology trends. Contribute to methodologies, accelerators, reusable assets, delivery standards, and continuous improvement across the Workday Practice.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Workday Financials delivery experience with multiple full-lifecycle implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex functional workstreams and providing solution architecture leadership.
  • Deep understanding of corporate accounting, FDM, General Ledger, multi-entity structures, consolidations, intercompany activity, allocations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong executive client management, workshop facilitation, team leadership, and delivery governance capabilities.
  • Financial services or private markets experience is preferred.
