Job description

Ready to be a Titan?

ServiceTitan is building the Developer Platform for enterprise-scale SaaS: a shared engineering ecosystem that powers seamless, high-velocity software delivery across our entire product footprint.

This is not a collection of script-runners. Our DevX platform is the runtime, framework, build, deployment, guardrail, and telemetry layer that lets hundreds of engineers ship code safely, observably, and at enterprise scale.

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a small, hands-on DevX platform team building our next-generation developer ecosystem. This is a builder-manager role. The right person can lead engineers, shape architecture, make high-quality technical decisions, and stay close enough to the work to unblock design, implementation, and production delivery.

This is not a pure people-management role. We need someone who can earn credibility with senior engineers by improving the technical work, not just coordinating it. We expect strong engineering judgment, production scars, hands-on curiosity, and the ability to learn fast while making high-quality technical decisions.

What You’ll Build

  • You will lead a compact DevX platform engineering team responsible for foundational developer tool capabilities, including:

  • Environments: Cloud development environments (CDEs), on-demand provisioning, high-fidelity mocking, data seeding, and configuration management.

  • Build & CI/CD: Build parallelization, remote caching, automated test-splitting, secure pipelines, and zero-downtime progressive rollouts.

  • Developer Portal: A unified internal platform (IDP) providing "Golden Paths," automated service scaffolding, and centralized API/service catalogs.

  • Guardrails & Compliance: Automated linting, security scanning, policy-as-code injection, and static analysis embedded natively in workflows.

  • Velocity Harness: DORA metrics, build telemetry, local-to-production feedback loops, test flakiness analysis, and infrastructure cost tracking.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the team through architecture, implementation, internal launch, and fast iteration.

  • Stay hands-on: review designs/code, inspect build traces, debug pipeline behavior, and help engineers make pragmatic tradeoffs.

  • Translate DevX strategy into concrete infrastructure slices that ship quickly without creating one-off implementations.

  • Define platform contracts for service templates, environment configurations, pipeline steps, and deployment manifests.

  • Partner across Product, Security, SRE, and domain engineering teams to create safe, frictionless, and measurable developer workflows.

  • Drive metrics (build performance, test reliability, cycle time) as an everyday engineering discipline.

  • Work through real platform failures with the team: slow builds, flaky tests, infrastructure drift, and broken pipelines.

  • Hire, coach, and retain strong engineers who can build fast, reason deeply, and operate responsibly.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years leading engineering teams or major initiatives in platform, infrastructure, or DevX.

  • Strong technical background as a builder with recent hands-on technical leadership (reviewing designs, reading code, or debugging systems within the last 6–12 months).

  • Experience shipping CI/CD pipelines, build systems, internal developer portals, or test automation platforms in production.

  • Practical understanding of modern developer tool architecture: containerization (Kubernetes/Docker), orchestration, remote caching, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).

  • Strong instincts for environment safety: Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), secure secrets management, and automated compliance gates.

  • Production-minded approach to velocity: tracking cycle time, lead time for changes, and deployment frequency.

  • Ability to turn ambiguous strategy into sequenced roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and clear ownership.

  • Low-ego coaching style. You raise the technical bar while helping the team move faster.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience building or operating internal developer platforms, custom build networks, or internal control planes.

  • Experience with compliance-sensitive workflows, change management systems, audit trails, or policy engines.

  • Background in SaaS or cloud-native infrastructure where software delivery speed directly impacts business outcomes.
