This is a core backend engineering role at a fintech company building global trust infrastructure — turning complex, months-long compliance workflows into near-instant processes. You'll sit at the heart of the engineering team, designing the systems and APIs that underpin a high-trust, distributed platform.
Design and build clean, testable, and efficient backend systems and APIs.
Architect scalable infrastructure capable of handling high-trust and high-volume requirements.
Apply strong opinions on testing, quality, and long-term maintainability across every project.
Think deeply about user needs and system behavior to tackle complex product challenges.
Help shape engineering practices and technical culture through collaboration and hands-on leadership.
5–7+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments; the team skews senior and most hires land at 7+ years.
Strong systems thinking — able to reason about long-term system behavior and go deep on large architectural problems, not just individual features.
Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Node.js/TypeScript, Python, Go, or Java, with demonstrated production experience.
Experience designing scalable APIs and backend infrastructure for high-volume or high-trust systems.
Hands-on experience with relational databases (Postgres or MySQL) in production.
Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar).
Experience deploying and managing applications in containerized or cloud environments (e.g. Kubernetes, AWS, or similar).
Experience writing automated tests and maintaining testable codebases.
Background in high-trust or regulated domains such as fintech, payments, or identity.
Clear communicator who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys collaborating closely with teammates.
Nice to have: Node.js, TypeScript, Event Sourcing, Express, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, and AWS experience; prior experience at an early-stage or high-growth company.
Base salary range: €116,000 – €146,000, determined by a published leveling system — no individual salary negotiations, everyone at the same level is paid the same. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Fully remote, open to candidates based in European time zones (hard requirement). The team meets in person regularly for company-wide offsites.
After you apply, unlock the direct contact details of the people who actually make the call. A quick follow-up makes you 5x more likely to land an interview.
