Job description

The Role

The Social Media Marketing Manager owns the day-to-day growth of the brand and founder social accounts: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest. This is a senior, hands-on role for an assertive, forward-thinking operator who sets direction, manages creative talent, and is accountable for measurable account growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Account growth: own follower growth, reach, and engagement targets across all platforms and report against them weekly with numbers.
  • Daily social listening and engagement: monitor all accounts multiple times daily; respond to comments and direct messages within 24 hours; proactively engage followers and comparable accounts every day to drive growth.
  • Content strategy and calendar: build and maintain a monthly content calendar covering every platform, including stories, with captions and posting status kept current at all times.
  • Creative team leadership: direct and manage videographers and graphic designers (staff or contractors), including issuing written creative briefs with reference examples, format, length, and tone before any shoot or design work begins; enforce deliverable standards and deadlines firmly.
  • Founder content direction: when requesting on-camera or on-mic content from the founder, provide a reference example, a written shot and format description, and a target length in advance, in writing, every time.
  • Tool ownership: run scheduling, publishing, and inbox management through Meta Business Suite and the brand's scheduling tools (currently Later and Buffer); recommend and justify any tool changes in writing.
  • Approvals: operate within written approval rules for the founder's personal channels; nothing posts to the founder's LinkedIn without written approval.

Required Experience

  • 5 or more years managing social media accounts for a consumer brand, with at least 2 years in a role where you were accountable for growth numbers.
  • Direct experience leading and managing videographers AND graphic designers. This is mandatory. You must be able to describe, with examples, how you directed their work, enforced standards, and handled underperformance.
  • Experience managing photographers, web designers, or web developers (staff or contracted) is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated growth results: you must present at least two written case studies with real numbers (follower growth, engagement rate, reach, or revenue attributed to social).
  • Hands-on fluency with Meta Business Suite, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, and at least one scheduling platform (Later, Buffer, or equivalent).
  • Beauty, hair care, or CPG experience preferred.

Who Succeeds in This Role

  • Assertive: gives clear, firm direction to creative talent and does not reverse decisions under pushback without new facts.
  • Forward-thinking: brings platform trends, format ideas, and growth plays to the founder before being asked.
  • Independent: makes day-to-day decisions inside an agreed strategy without constant approval-seeking, and knows which decisions are theirs versus the founder's.
  • Accountable: reports misses and delays the same day they are known, with a recovery plan attached.
