Job description

About Us

Osmind is a technology, services, and data company focused exclusively on psychiatry. Mental health disorders are one of the leading causes of death worldwide and are tied to shortening lifespans. Yet, we have cause for hope: there have been developments in new psychiatric medications and treatments since the first FDA approval in 1954, including ketamine, Spravato, and neuromodulation. Now, there is a growing movement among clinicians, patients, and researchers to close the gap between this scientific innovation and better real-world care.

At Osmind, we serve a network of 1,000+ independent psychiatry practices across the country. We help these clinics effectively provide high-quality care, scale as businesses, and contribute to research with our purpose-built EHR, software solutions, clinician community, and managed services. Our providers are at the forefront of psychiatry, offering innovative interventions and treating some of the highest-acuity patients in the country.

Osmind is a San Francisco–based public benefit corporation backed by top investors including DFJ Growth, Future Ventures, General Catalyst, and Y Combinator.

Role Overview

As our AR Specialist, your focus is squarely on AR follow-up: pushing claims out the door, unclogging cash flow bottlenecks, and partnering directly with providers to resolve denials and rejections. You bring behavioral health billing experience — you're already comfortable with core MH concepts like telehealth delivery, psychotherapy add-on codes, and medication management visits — and we'll build on that foundation to get you fluent in interventional psychiatry billing (Spravato, TMS, ketamine).

We operate on an industry-leading revenue cycle platform and a modern AI-native stack. You'll be expected to ramp fast, use AI as a daily tool, and bring sharp problem-solving to some of the most complex billing in healthcare.

What You'll Do
  • Own the cash side of the revenue cycle — Make sure clean claims flow without bottlenecks; address holds, edits, and rejections that prevent submission
  • Unclog cash flow — Work outstanding AR across 30/60/90+ day aging buckets; prioritize high-dollar claims; resolve denials, rejections, and holds to maximize cash flow
  • Help drive touchless claim rate — Beyond working your own queue, help identify patterns and rule opportunities in Candid that reduce how many claims need a human at all
  • Address denials with providers — Partner directly with practices to gather information, resolve issues, and prevent recurring denial patterns
  • Field customer billing inquiries — Serve as the point person for ad-hoc, claim-specific billing questions escalated from Customer Success, Implementation, and Account Managers (e.g., "why was this claim denied," "why is this patient balance amount," "this charge doesn't look right"). Do the one-off research needed to give practices a clear, accurate answer, so AMs, CS, and Implementation aren't pulled into claim-level investigation
  • Navigate modern E&M and telehealth billing — Comfortably work standard office E&M, POS rules, and the state-by-state and payer-by-payer telehealth modifier patchwork. Read a payer reimbursement policy and translate it into a billing action without hand-holding
  • Build specialty depth — Grow from your behavioral health foundation into full fluency on interventional psychiatry billing — Spravato, TMS, ketamine, and comparable treatments
  • Quality improvement — Audit and clean up AR backlog, flag template/SOP/workflow improvements, and contribute to how the team operates
  • Provider communication — Send clear, concise, professional messages to practices, both proactively (denial follow-up) and in response to inbound billing inquiries. Every message is one a practice can act on without follow-up
  • Internal communication — Raise blockers proactively in the right channel within hours, not days. Don't bottle things up
  •

  • What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of hands-on AR resolution experience — denials, rejections, appeals, aging buckets, prioritization to maximize cash
  • Behavioral health billing experience — You've directly worked BH claims and are comfortable with medication management visits, psychotherapy add-on codes, and telehealth delivery for MH. Interventional psychiatry experience is not required — we'll train you
  • Modern E&M and telehealth billing chops — Standard office E&M, POS rules, the state- and payer-specific telehealth modifier patchwork. You can read a payer reimbursement policy and act on it
  • Major payer portal experience — Availity, Navinet, PayerCompass, payer-specific portals
  • AI-native — You use Claude, Gemini, or comparable tools in your daily workflow and can speak to how you've made them useful
  • Startup comfort — You don't need rigid structure to do good work. You adapt well when priorities or workload shift, and you're excited by the pace rather than worn down by it
  • Open, direct communication style — Comfortable raising blockers fast, asking clear questions, giving and receiving direct feedback
  • US-based, eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

  • Strong Pluses
  • Candid Health experience
  • Interventional psychiatry exposure (Spravato, TMS, ketamine) or adjacent high-acuity BH experience (IOP/PHP)
  • Notion, Slack, Pylon experience
  • Documented startup or scale-up experience
  • How to Apply

The application includes seven short questions — five are quick multiple-choice or checkbox questions about what you've actually worked on, and two ask for a sentence or two in your own words.

A note on these questions. We read every one, and they matter more than your resume formatting. Answer in your own words — we're looking for real specifics from your own experience, not polish. Vague or generic answers won't move forward, and we'll ask you to go deeper on whatever you write here in your first conversation with us.

It should take about ten minutes. We read them carefully — they tell us how you think through a problem and how you communicate.

This is a remote, full-time W-2 role open to candidates anywhere in the United States.

Apply once. Then go straight to the hiring manager.

After you apply, unlock the direct contact details of the people who actually make the call. A quick follow-up makes you 5x more likely to land an interview.
