Job description

Axcera is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and deploying web applications with a strong focus on AWS infrastructure, Terraform, AWS Lambda, and Apache Kafka, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and automation. Additionally, proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as Node.js, Express.js, and NestJS is essential.


We are looking for someone who is hands-on, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment. You continuously look for ways to improve reliability, scalability, and engineering efficiency, and actively leverage AI, automation, and modern engineering tools to troubleshoot problems, reduce manual work, and improve how we operate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform.
  • AWS Management: Oversee and optimize AWS infrastructure, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and other services.
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Apply SRE principles to improve system availability, resilience, observability, performance, and overall production reliability.
  • Serverless Architecture: Develop and maintain serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
  • Event Streaming: Implement and manage Apache Kafka for real-time data processing and streaming.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Develop, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • AI & Automation: Actively explore and leverage AI-powered tools and automation to improve DevOps workflows, troubleshooting, monitoring, incident response, and engineering efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Set up and manage monitoring tools and logging systems to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to understand application requirements and ensure seamless integration and deployment.
  • Scripting and Automation: Create scripts and automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a DevOps role, with a strong focus on web applications and AWS infrastructure.
  • Terraform: Proficient in using Terraform for infrastructure management.
  • AWS Lambda: Extensive experience in developing and managing serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
  • Apache Kafka: Strong knowledge and experience with Apache Kafka for event streaming and real-time data processing.
  • JavaScript Frameworks: Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks, specifically Node.js, Express.js, and NestJS.
  • SRE: Good understanding of SRE principles, including reliability, observability, incident management, availability, and performance.
  • CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or similar.
  • Version Control: Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • AI & Automation: Experience using, or a strong interest in leveraging, AI-powered tools and automation to improve infrastructure management, troubleshooting, and engineering workflows.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar.
  • Containers and Orchestration: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, particularly Amazon EKS.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or other relevant AWS certifications.
  • Scripting Languages: Experience with additional scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.
  • Databases: Knowledge of database management and optimization (SQL and NoSQL).

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
