Job description

Overview:

Ask Sage, a BigBear.ai company, is the leading Generative AI platform that augments the velocity of government and commercial teams with dozens of use cases, from coding to cybersecurity to acquisition to data analysis and beyond. Our secure platform delivers cutting-edge technology that enables teams to focus on strategic initiatives while we take care of the heavy lifting. We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help safeguard the information systems behind our revolutionary platform.

What you will do:
  • Monitor installed systems and infrastructure — including Azure Government enclaves and Kubernetes clusters — and escalate anomalies in accordance with established runbooks and procedures.
  • Assist in deploying, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Support system availability targets and help ensure platform SLAs are met, participating in an on-call rotation as scheduled.
  • Execute and help maintain backup, redundancy, and recovery procedures under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Write and maintain scripts and automation to reduce manual effort, improve alerting, and increase operational visibility.
  • Provide 2nd level support for infrastructure issues and escalate complex incidents to senior engineering staff.
  • Apply patches and remediate assigned cybersecurity vulnerabilities and CVEs, documenting actions taken.
  • Support FedRAMP High and DoD IL5 compliance activities, including evidence collection, continuous monitoring tasks, and inputs to monthly reporting.
  • Assist with routine system security reviews and audits, and help track remediation items to closure.
  • Contribute to infrastructure documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
What you need to have:

  • Two (2) years of combined work-related experience in cloud infrastructure, systems administration, IT operations, or a closely related field, including hands-on exposure to Microsoft Azure.
  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration concepts, including Kubernetes fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated scripting ability in at least one language (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (four (4) additional years of related work experience may substitute for the degree).
  • Security+ certification (or equivalent IAT Level II certification), or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Familiarity with several of the following areas:
    • Linux and/or Windows system administration
    • Infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tooling
    • Networking and communication protocols
    • Identity, access management, and encryption fundamentals
    • Monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check, including fingerprinting and reference checks.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
What we'd like you to have:
  • Four (4) or more years of combined work-related experience in cloud infrastructure or IT operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS); additional exposure to AWS or GCP.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP High and/or DoD IL5 environments, including vulnerability remediation and continuous monitoring.
  • Experience with Terraform, Helm, GitOps workflows, or similar automation tooling.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based SaaS environments and modern security operations
