Team Global Express is seeking a reliable and hardworking Freight Handler to join our Mackay Depot on a permanent full-time basis.
This is a hands-on PM shift role within a busy transport and logistics operation. You'll work alongside Drivers, Forklift Operators and the Operations team to ensure freight is sorted, scanned, staged and prepared correctly for movement across our network.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in helping the team get the freight out safely and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Sort freight according to the correct delivery route and destination.
Scan freight and update freight movements using handheld devices.
Check freight for accuracy before dispatch.
Stage freight for local deliveries, collections and linehaul movements.
Re-palletise and reconfigure freight where required.
Assist with the loading and unloading of freight.
Secure freight using approved methods and procedures.
Identify and report damaged freight, shortages and discrepancies.
Assist with trailer and vehicle turnaround activities.
Work closely with Drivers and Forklift Operators to keep freight moving efficiently.
Maintain clean, safe and organised dock and work areas.
Follow correct manual handling techniques and safe work practices.
Support freight sorting during busy and peak operational periods.
Assist with general depot and dock duties as required.
Work towards daily operational, service and productivity targets.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, accuracy and teamwork at all times.
We're looking for someone who is reliable, safety-focused and comfortable working in a physically active environment.
Ideally, you'll have:
Previous experience in transport, freight, logistics, courier, warehousing or distribution – highly regarded.
Experience handling, sorting, loading or unloading freight would be advantageous.
The physical fitness to perform regular manual handling throughout the shift.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong attention to detail and freight accuracy.
A strong commitment to workplace safety.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow work instructions, procedures and safety requirements.
A positive attitude and willingness to help the wider depot team.
Flexibility to respond to changing freight volumes and operational requirements.
Full Australian working rights.
