Job description

VirtueStaff seeking a meticulous Auditor to manage audit engagements, financial reviews, and tax filings for our client. In this role, you will perform end-to-end financial statement audits, reconcile complex general ledger and reserve accounts, ensure GAAP and tax compliance, and prepare tax returns tailored to HOAs and condominiums. The ideal candidate brings a strong public accounting background, deep familiarity with fund accounting, and advanced software literacy in professional tax/audit platforms (CCH, Thomson Reuters, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct full-scope financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for condominium and HOA clients
  • Prepare detailed audit workpapers, supporting documentation, analytical procedures, and final audit reports
  • Reconcile bank accounts, reserve funds, and general ledger accounts, analyzing financial records to identify and correct discrepancies
  • Ensure all financial reporting adheres strictly to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific fund accounting standards
  • Prepare and file federal and state corporate and HOA tax returns within required statutory deadlines
  • Communicate audit findings, tax matters, and internal control recommendations directly to board members and client management
  • Balance multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting strict tax and audit delivery milestones

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or active CPA candidate status is strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience within a public accounting firm, with direct experience in HOA/condominium or real estate accounting
  • Solid grasp of HOA/condo accounting principles, including fund accounting (operating vs. reserve funds) and deferred maintenance reserves
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, auditing standards, and applicable HOA tax regulations
  • Public Accounting Platforms: Proficiency in professional tax and audit software suites such as CCH, Thomson Reuters, or UltraTax CS
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and financial modeling)
