What You’ll Do

Program Context

CATF’s Methane Pollution Prevention team works globally to reduce methane pollution across the energy, waste, and agriculture sectors. This role will help translate CATF’s technical and policy expertise into practical methane mitigation strategies throughout Latin America. Working with governments, regional institutions, civil society, industry, and technical experts, you will advance policies and initiatives that are ambitious, evidence-based, and responsive to regional priorities. You will lead regional policy development, advocacy, and partnership-building while helping connect lessons from Latin America to CATF’s broader global methane strategy.

Responsibilities

• Policy Development & Analysis – Develop and advance technically sound methane policies, regulations, initiatives, and projects across the agriculture, waste, and energy sectors, supported by research into their effectiveness and political feasibility.

• Advocacy Strategy & Influence – Design and execute advocacy strategies that build support for ambitious methane mitigation policies among national and subnational governments, regional institutions, and multilateral organizations.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Coalition Building – Build trusted relationships and coalitions across government, civil society, industry, academia, partner organizations, and international institutions to strengthen methane reduction efforts throughout Latin America.

• Capacity Strengthening – Design workshops, trainings, webinars, and roundtables that help governments and institutions develop methane mitigation plans, strengthen implementation capabilities, and apply effective policies and guidelines.

• Thought Leadership & Communications – Translate complex technical and policy information into accessible reports, recommendations, presentations, testimony, briefings, and other materials for policymakers and regional stakeholders.

• Regional Strategy & Opportunity Development – Identify emerging opportunities, priorities, and partnerships that can expand CATF’s regional methane work and contribute to the development and execution of its Latin America strategy.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with CATF’s methane, advocacy, communications, technical, and regional teams to align priorities, develop evidence-based solutions, and connect regional experience with global initiatives.

• People & Program Leadership – Provide direction and collaborative supervision to the Fossil Fuel Policy Analyst for Latin America and the Caribbean while contributing to project planning, consultant coordination, budget implementation, and broader program development.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, environmental science, engineering, economics, law, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate, energy, environmental policy, advocacy, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience developing or advancing public policy initiatives and evaluating policy or regulatory approaches.
• Knowledge of climate, energy, environmental, or regulatory systems in Latin America, with experience working across multiple countries in the region.
• Experience engaging government stakeholders and policymakers in Latin America and operating effectively within complex political and stakeholder environments.
• Professional fluency in both Spanish and English, including the ability to communicate technical and policy concepts clearly in writing and presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to build partnerships, support coalitions, negotiate effectively, and influence policy change among stakeholders with different priorities.
• Strong project leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote, international environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with methane mitigation, greenhouse gas emissions, or related environmental issues.
• Experience or subject matter knowledge related to agriculture or waste policy, systems, or methane reduction.
• Experience advancing regulatory policy or developing multi-stakeholder coalitions.
• An advanced degree in public policy, environmental science, engineering, economics, law, international relations, or a related field.
• Portuguese language proficiency.
• Experience working effectively in a remote or globally distributed organization.

Compensation & Location

This is a full-time, remote position. Compensation is country-specific and paid in the local currency of the employee's country of residence. CATF is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation practices. We publish salary ranges to help candidates make informed decisions and to support a fair and consistent hiring process.

The anticipated salary ranges for this position are:

• Argentina: ARS 48,000,000 - 60,000,000
• Brazil: BRL 205,000 - 242,900

These ranges apply to candidates hired in Argentina and Brazil. Candidates may also be considered in other Latin American countries where CATF is able to employ staff. Compensation in those locations will be determined based on local market conditions and CATF's compensation structure for the applicable country.

Final salary offers will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and local market factors. Candidates must be authorized to work in their country of residence.

This position may require domestic and international travel several times per year, depending on project needs.
