About the Team
As part of the Infrastructure organization, the Engineering Enablement team helps scale Netflix’s engineering efficiency by improving how developers interact with core platform capabilities. We act as a central source of technical insight: collaborating directly with engineers, analyzing platform behaviors, identifying cross-cutting patterns, and partnering with platform teams to drive meaningful improvements.

We focus on strengthening developer workflows, optimizing platform usability, expanding paved-road tooling, and improving documentation and developer education. Our work combines hands-on technical investigation with platform-level influence.

Our Mission
Enable Netflix engineers to move quickly and confidently by improving their experience with the platform and by providing high-quality technical guidance across platform domains.

Our culture is unique, and we tend to live by our values, allowing you to do your best work and grow. To learn more about Productivity Engineering, feel free to listen to this podcast.

The Role

We’re looking for a Solutions Support Engineer to help Netflix engineers build, debug, and operate applications on our Python developer platform and paved paths.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving hard technical problems, improving developer workflows, and turning recurring issues into better tools and platform capabilities.

Your day-to-day

  • Debug complex issues across Python applications, frameworks, dependencies, CI/CD, runtime environments, and platform integrations.

  • Build tooling, automation, and diagnostics that make problems easier to prevent and resolve.

  • Become a trusted expert on Netflix’s Python platform and developer tooling.

  • Turn recurring developer pain points into improvements in tooling, documentation, workflows, and platform capabilities.

  • Partner with Python Platform and other engineering teams to solve problems that cross system boundaries.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated software engineering experience building, debugging, or operating production systems.

  • Proficiency in Python, with a track record of debugging and contributing to production code, libraries, or frameworks.

  • Understanding of Python packaging and dependency management, including tools and concepts such as pip, pyproject.toml, virtual environments, and wheels.

  • Experience with Python frameworks and development tooling such as FastAPI, Flask

  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and agentic tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, MCP) to troubleshoot, automate, and accelerate engineering work.

  • Experience debugging unfamiliar codebases and diagnosing issues across multiple layers of a system, including dependencies, build and CI/CD systems, runtime performance, concurrency or async I/O, distributed systems, or service-to-service integrations.

  • Ability to read and reason about framework and library internals when application-level debugging is not sufficient.

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous technical problems and drive them toward resolution.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to explain technical issues to engineers with different areas of expertise.

  • Interest in improving developer productivity and making engineering workflows more effective at scale.

Nice to Have

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Platform engineering, developer productivity, or internal tooling.

  • SRE, resilience engineering, fault injection, chaos testing, or progressive delivery.

  • Large-scale AWS or Kubernetes environments.

  • JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or debugging systems that span multiple technology stacks.
