WHAT YOU’LL DO:
MGT’s AI Operating Group is hiring a VP, AI Architecture & Delivery Excellence to own the technical integrity, production readiness, governance, and scalable delivery of MGT’s AI solutions and agent portfolio.
This is an internal-first technical leadership role. The VP will establish the architecture, engineering, security, and delivery standards used across MGT’s AI initiatives. They will assess the existing AI-agent portfolio, strengthen solutions already in production, and build repeatable methods for moving new concepts from prototype to reliable production use.
The VP will also provide technical leadership on complex client engagements and major pursuits. Working alongside MGT’s commercial leaders, they will translate business and client requirements into practical architectures, validate proposed solutions, and communicate technical value to executive stakeholders.
This role will own architecture, technical credibility, production quality, delivery readiness, and the development of scalable AI capabilities.
This is a builder-leader role. The right candidate can set enterprise technical direction, evaluate a varied portfolio of AI solutions, resolve difficult delivery issues, mentor technical teams, and introduce the standards and governance needed to operate AI reliably at scale.
What You’ll Own
Enterprise AI Architecture and Standards
- Establish architecture, engineering, security, integration, and production-readiness standards for MGT’s AI solutions.
- Define reference architectures and approved design patterns for LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, data pipelines, integrations, analytics, and related AI capabilities.
- Guide model, platform, tool, and infrastructure decisions based on business value, risk, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ensure AI solutions align with MGT’s security, privacy, data-handling, governance, and responsible-AI expectations.
- Maintain a practical technical roadmap for strengthening MGT’s AI delivery capabilities.
AI-Agent Portfolio Management
- Assess MGT’s existing portfolio of AI agents, applications, accelerators, and internal tools against a consistent production-readiness standard.
- Recommend which solutions should be remediated, scaled, consolidated, redesigned, or retired.
- Establish clear ownership, documentation, support, monitoring, and lifecycle expectations for production AI solutions.
- Identify technical debt, operational risk, duplication, and gaps across the portfolio.
- Improve the reliability, adoption, utilization, scalability, and measurable impact of MGT’s AI solutions.
Production Readiness and Delivery Excellence
- Establish repeatable delivery methods, quality gates, technical review processes, and implementation playbooks.
- Lead technical triage for high-risk, underperforming, or strategically important AI initiatives.
- Review solution architectures, estimates, delivery plans, testing approaches, and implementation risks.
- Help teams move effectively from experimentation and prototypes to secure, maintainable, production-ready solutions.
- Improve delivery predictability, estimate accuracy, time to production, and delivery margin.
- Ensure implementation lessons are captured and converted into reusable standards, assets, and practices.
Technical Solution Leadership
- Lead technical discovery and solution design for complex or strategically important client engagements.
- Translate business and client requirements into practical AI architectures and delivery plans.
- Partner with consultants, subject-matter experts, commercial leaders, and client stakeholders to validate solution feasibility.
- Support proposals, demonstrations, executive presentations, and major pursuits through technical storytelling and solution validation.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor during delivery escalations and critical client conversations.
This role contributes technical credibility and solution expertise to the sales process but does not independently own pipeline generation, new-logo acquisition, or practice revenue.
Team Leadership and Capability Development
- Mentor AI solution architects, engineers, data scientists, data engineers, and other technical builders.
- Define role expectations, technical competencies, growth paths, and quality standards across the AI delivery team.
- Strengthen teams’ capabilities in architecture, engineering discipline, testing, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Build a culture of practical delivery, thoughtful governance, technical accountability, and reuse.
- Identify capability gaps and inform hiring, staffing, training, and partner decisions.
Internal Product and Practice Enablement
- Provide architecture and delivery leadership for internal AI products, tools, accelerators, and enablement priorities.
- Develop reusable components, templates, reference architectures, implementation methods, and technical playbooks.
- Identify common capabilities that can be shared across internal solutions and client engagements.
- Partner with the VP of AI Strategy & Operations on portfolio priorities, resourcing, governance, and delivery readiness.
- Partner with commercial leadership to package technically proven capabilities for external use without assuming ownership of the sales funnel.
Required Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in AI, data, analytics, software engineering, enterprise architecture, technology consulting, or professional-services delivery.
- Deep technical experience designing and delivering AI, data, or software solutions in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of modern AI solution patterns, including LLM applications, RAG, agentic workflows, vector databases, prompt and context engineering, data pipelines, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish architecture standards and lead technical teams delivering production-quality work.
- Experience assessing solution portfolios, resolving complex delivery problems, and managing technical risk.
- Ability to translate business requirements into architectures, estimates, implementation plans, and operating models.
- Strong executive communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, clients, consultants, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
- A builder mentality combined with sound judgment, delivery discipline, and a pragmatic approach to governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing an AI Center of Excellence, architecture function, product studio, platform team, or technical delivery organization.
- Experience managing or rationalizing a portfolio of AI agents, applications, internal products, or reusable technology assets.
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI services, data platforms, observability, ETL/ELT, analytics, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience with AI evaluation, testing, monitoring, security, privacy, governance, and responsible-AI practices.
- Prior experience mentoring architects, engineers, data scientists, data engineers, or other AI builders.
- Consulting or client-facing technical delivery experience.
- State and local government experience.
