Principal Backend Engineer

Nexaminds is looking for a Principal Backend Engineer to serve as a core technical leader across our backend systems and deployment infrastructure. In this role, you will define architectural standards, bridge the gap between software engineering and cloud platform automation, and design resilient, enterprise-scale systems. You will not only build mission-critical services and CI/CD orchestration, but also guide technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and influence engineering strategy across teams.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, with deep mastery of backend development using Java (Java 11/17+).
• Proven Architectural Expertise in designing, scaling, and maintaining distributed microservices architectures and API platforms using Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Strong DevOps Leadership & Mindset: Extensive experience defining deployment workflows, advanced deployment patterns (blue/green, canary, progressive delivery), and enterprise configuration management.
• Expertise in CI/CD & Orchestration: Advanced proficiency in designing enterprise-grade pipelines using GitHub Actions, Harness, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Deep Experience with Microsoft Azure Ecosystem: Advanced hands-on knowledge of Azure authentication, identity concepts (Entra ID/Azure AD), and enterprise secret management (Azure Key Vault).
• Container Orchestration & Cloud Infrastructure: Strong mastery of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Data & Messaging Systems: Extensive experience with relational/non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for event-driven architectures.
• Technical Leadership: Proven track record of influencing engineering strategy, driving technical standards, and mentoring senior/mid-level engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, architecture, and evolution of scalable, resilient, and secure microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Define, build, and standardize robust CI/CD frameworks, pipeline automation, and deployment patterns (canary, blue-green, progressive delivery) across multi-environment setups.
• Drive security best practices across application and pipeline layers, integrating Azure Key Vault or enterprise secret management solutions.
• Oversee distributed system architecture to ensure high availability, performance, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
• Set code quality, testing, and continuous integration standards across teams; conduct high-level architectural and code reviews.
• Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Product Leadership, Cloud Security, and Infrastructure teams to align technical initiatives with business goals.
• Serve as the final point of escalation for complex technical, production, and pipeline issues while mentoring engineers to level up overall team capabilities.
