Job description

We are actively looking for a Payroll and Benefits Manager to join our team. The Payroll & Benefits Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of payroll and benefits programs across Canada and the United States. This role oversees payroll for approximately 500 employees across Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec while ensuring legislative compliance and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle payroll for approximately 500 employees across Canada and the U.S
  • Ensure accurate processing of salaried, hourly, unionized, and non-union payrolls on a weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis
  • Manager relationship with benefits/retirement savings vendors to drive cost savings and enhance coverage
  • Administer benefits and retirement programs to ensure employees are enrolled in a timely fashion
  • Develop educational material/campaigns to drive awareness around benefits plan offerings and ways to drive cost savings
  • Lead annual benefits renewal process and recommendations; including preparing cost analysis and communication material
  • Oversee year-end payroll reporting, remittances, ROEs, T4s, RL-1s, and related filings.
  • Interpret and administer collective agreement payroll provisions including premiums, wage increases, overtime, and union dues.
  • Prepare payroll, labor, and benefits reporting for leadership.
  • Lead payroll system upgrade for Canada and the US to Workforce Now

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience with extensive experience processing both Canadian and U.S. payrolls.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation across Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Texas.
  • Experience administering payroll within unionized environments and able to interpret collective agreements for accurate payroll processing.
  • Experience managing employee benefits programs in both Canada and the US, including enrollments, terminations, extensions.
  • Must have experience with ASO and fully insured benefits program in Canada
  • PCP designation required; CPM considered an asset.

Technical Requirements

  • 5 + years of advanced expertise with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Hands-on experience implementing ADP Workforce Now
  • Strong HRIS, payroll reporting, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot payroll system issues and lead testing activities.
