At Braver Technology, a New Charter Company, we are seeking a Systems Engineer in Burlington, Vermont (in other companies this person could hold the title of (IT Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Network Systems Engineer) to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot secure infrastructure and cloud solutions for clients.Job Title: Systems Engineer
Job Location: Hybrid - Burlington, Vermont
Salary: Starting 85k
General job duties include:
Manage on-premises and cloud environments, including hardware and software configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation in alignment with client requirements and company standards.
Complete project tasks, service tickets, routine maintenance, and client-site work efficiently in both remote and on-site environments.
Design, deploy, administer, and support Microsoft 365 and Azure services while maintaining a strong working knowledge of Microsoft cloud technologies.
Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues from the Technical Assistance Center and other team members, and assist with troubleshooting through resolution.
Collaborate with the Design Team on the development, evaluation, and delivery of scopes of work and technical quote specifications.
Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, managers, client engagement managers, and project stakeholders regarding status, risks, issues, and resolutions.
Maintain accurate and current documentation for client infrastructure, implementations, configuration changes, support incidents, and technical procedures.
Keep work orders and ConnectWise records current and complete in accordance with company and Service Operations policies and procedures.
Follow standard installation procedures and checklists, identify process gaps, and recommend improvements when appropriate.
Mentor and share technical knowledge with junior team members and contribute to a collaborative Service Operations environment.
Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry developments that may affect client environments.
Meet established service-delivery and billable-hour expectations while completing work accurately, professionally, and on schedule.
Participate in the on-call rotation and provide scheduled off-hours support as required.
Work with your manager on an ongoing education and certification plan to maintain and expand technical expertise.
Attend company and departmental meetings and provide updates on client issues, project status, and scheduling concerns.
Some projects may involve law enforcement agencies. Participation in these projects is voluntary and may require additional training and background screening in accordance with the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
Associate degree or at least 2 years of network design and installation experience; alternatively, 1 year of network design or installation experience plus 2 years of software development, help desk support, or hardware maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one relevant industry certification.
Working knowledge of network applications and network operating systems, with the ability to configure, support, build, and maintain servers and workstations.
Demonstrated ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues with strong logical reasoning, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to company offices and client locations; ability to travel by commercial airline when required.
Preferred Experience:
Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure in business or managed services environments.
Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including networks, servers, workstations, backup systems, and related business applications.
Experience working in an MSP, professional services, or client-facing IT environment with a mix of project and support responsibilities.
Experience using ConnectWise or a similar professional services automation/ticketing platform.
Experience mentoring junior technical staff and serving as an escalation resource for complex issues.
Physical Requirements:
Correctable vision and full hearing capability, including the ability to distinguish tones.
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and sit and/or stand for extended periods, up to 14 hours per day when required.
Ability to perform field work in environments that may include ladders, crawl spaces, attics, construction areas, offices, and LAN/WAN rooms.
Ability to effectively speak, read, and write English.
Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, overnight travel, and scheduled on-call support.
