Job description

As the Inventory Optimization Specialist at Crescent Electric, you will manage and optimize inventory health across the enterprise by identifying excess, slow moving, and nonproductive inventory and executing redistribution, returns, or other corrective actions. In this role, you will use your thoroughness and in-depth ability to examine and interpret data, generate solutions, pay close attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management. You will work closely with DC Operations, Category Management, and Procurement Management, as well as the associated functional areas of sales, finance, transportation, and the branch operations teams to support Supply Chain initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Create weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and evaluation on nonproductive inventory.

  • Work with external suppliers and branch leadership teams to identify and target excess/stagnant inventory for vendor returns and stock rotations.

  • Evaluate, compile, and summarize excess inventory returns and material transfers across the company.

  • Execute on product redistribution within and across network and business units needed to move product and optimize inventory utilization.

  • Collect feedback from sales teams on inventory reporting and cultivate cross-functional communication.

  • Represent Supply Chain in cross-functional meetings, projects, and taskforce groups.

  • Develop decision support tools tied to nonproductive inventory creating a streamlined review process for the sales teams.

  • Monitor and maintain schedules for nonproduct inventory movement to keep things on track.

  • Assist in data analytics to drive operations and supply chain initiatives and projects.

  • Assist in executing tasks for internal projects.

  • Attend branch/company meetings and events as required. Overnight travel may be necessary.

  • Be an ambassador of safety and adhere to all safety policies.

SKILLS:

  • Strong, comprehensive computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook products).

  • Ability to work with large data sets with advanced Excel and analytical capabilities.

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines.

  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and have the ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively across all levels of management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; 3+ years of direct experience in supply chain activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • ERP systems experience using Eclipse Solar is preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout the CESCO territories, as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally standing and walking. Most of the time sitting, use of hands/fingers, talking/hearing. Often reaching with hands/arms.

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.

  • Ability to travel 5 - 10% of the time, with overnight stays and attend company and vendor events as needed.

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)

  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
