The Role

  • Are you obsessed with internet culture? Do you love turning trending moments into something people can’t stop reading about? BuzzFeed’s India team is looking for curious, internet-savvy writers to craft engaging, entertaining, and shareable stories for our US audience. If you have a keen eye for pop culture moments, a sharp sense of humor, and know how to make people click, this role is for you.

    What you'll do

    • Pitch and write engaging listicles, quizzes, and feature stories across pop culture, entertainment, and lifestyle, centred around the US audience.
    • Turn trending conversations and niche topics into compelling, high-performing content.
    • Work with the editor to refine content, optimize headlines, and package stories for maximum impact. 
    • Take ownership of your ideas from pitch to publication and iterate based on editorial feedback and performance.
    • Spot great stories before everyone else does.

    What we're looking for

    • A creative and versatile writer with 1–3 years of experience in content, editorial, or journalism. Bonus points if you have previously worked with a digital content company.
    • Freshers who show promise with exceptional creative skills will also be considered.
    • Excellent written English and a strong grasp of grammar.
    • A genuine curiosity about internet culture, pop culture, and why people share content.
    • Strong research skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to think like a reader and package stories with compelling headlines and hooks.
    • Organized, deadline-driven, and able to juggle multiple stories at once.
    • Someone who takes initiative, works independently, and is eager to learn from data and feedback.
    • Comfortable with CMS tools.

    This is a full-time 40-hour-a-week contract position, Monday through Friday, with the ability to work remotely. Contracts are 3 months to start with the potential opportunity to extend to a year.
