Job description

Who we are

At Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, we believe education is more than the pursuit of knowledge – it is a catalyst for transformation. Our mission, grounded in democratizing education, is to create access for learners from every background and empower them to achieve their aspirations and advance their careers.

We are committed to delivering rigorous, flexible programs that are both personally fulfilling and professionally rewarding, while contributing to the betterment of society. Since 2004, Yorkville has been among Canada’s few private, for-profit, fully accredited degree-granting universities, with campuses in Ontario, British Columbia, and New Brunswick. Together with Toronto Film School, we offer creative and academic pathways at both the college and university levels, cultivating a multidisciplinary environment where innovation and the arts converge.

Our community is vibrant and diverse. Many of our learners are adults balancing education with careers and personal commitments. Every member of our team – whether in teaching, operations, or technology – is dedicated to removing barriers and expanding access. Together, we deliver flexible, industry-informed learning that leads to meaningful opportunities.

At our core is human connection – guiding people to reimagine their futures in a community defined by opportunity, creativity, and growth.

Who we need

Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, we are hiring an Associate Admissions Advisor to support prospective students exploring programs at Yorkville University and Toronto Film School. As our new Associate Admissions Advisor, you will be one of the first points of connection for prospective students, reaching out to understand their educational and career goals, explore their motivation for returning to school, and determine whether their program of interest aligns with what they want to achieve. You will build rapport through high-volume outbound calls, answer initial questions, qualify prospective students, and connect engaged candidates with an Admissions Advisor who can guide them through the next steps in their journey.

This is a fully remote role for candidates based in Ontario. The schedule is 1:00–9:00 p.m. ET, with a bi-weekly Saturday shift.

What's in it for you

A clear path for career growth. This role is designed as a stepping stone to becoming an Admissions Advisor. You will build the communication, relationship-building, and sales skills needed to take the next step in your career while gaining hands-on experience connecting with prospective students, understanding their goals, and guiding them toward the right next step.

A chance to build your sales skills. Whether you are bringing customer service experience or are earlier in your sales career, you will have the opportunity to strengthen your ability to build rapport, ask thoughtful questions, listen for what matters, and confidently engage people over the phone. You will work toward clear goals and KPIs, with the opportunity to earn commission based on your performance.

Support to learn and succeed. You will join leaders who value open communication, coaching, and development. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced Admissions professionals, receive feedback on your approach, and build the confidence and skills to take on greater responsibility as you grow.

As our new Associate Admissions Advisor, you will

  • Connect with prospective students. You will conduct high-volume outbound outreach to people who have expressed interest in Yorkville University or Toronto Film School. You will create a positive first impression, build rapport quickly, answer initial questions, and engage prospective students in meaningful conversations about their education and career goals.
  • Understand their goals and motivation. You will ask thoughtful questions and actively listen to understand what is motivating each prospective student to explore further education. You will help them consider whether their program of interest aligns with their goals and identify those who are ready to continue the conversation with an Admissions Advisor.
  • Create a seamless next step. You will pre-qualify prospective students and connect engaged, qualified individuals with an Admissions Advisor through scheduled appointments or live transfers. You will help maintain a strong pipeline by keeping conversations moving forward and working toward established outreach and conversion goals.
  • Manage your outreach and results. You will take ownership of a high-volume calling schedule, accurately track your activity, and work toward individual and team KPIs. You will use the team's systems and processes to stay organized, manage follow-ups, and ensure prospective student information is captured accurately.
  • Contribute to the Admissions team. You will work closely with Admissions Advisors and your fellow Associate Admissions Advisors to support prospective students and team goals. You will share insights, participate in team activities and recruiting initiatives, and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative environment focused on student success.

What you bring

  • The communication skills. You are a confident and engaging communicator who can quickly build rapport over the phone. You ask thoughtful questions, listen closely, and adapt your approach based on what you hear, helping prospective students feel comfortable sharing their goals, motivations, and concerns.
  • The customer-focused approach. You have experience working directly with customers, clients, or the public in a service, sales, retail, call centre, or similarly people-focused environment. You know how to create a positive experience while guiding a conversation toward a clear next step.
  • The drive and resilience. You are motivated by goals and comfortable working toward measurable targets. You can maintain your energy through a high volume of outreach, stay positive when a conversation does not go as planned, and move confidently to the next opportunity.
  • The self-management skills. You can structure your day, manage follow-ups, and stay focused in a remote environment. You are organized and accountable, with the ability to balance a consistent outreach schedule with accurate documentation and attention to detail.
  • The motivation to learn. You are open to feedback, coaching, and new approaches that will help you strengthen your sales and relationship-building skills. You are curious, eager to develop, and ready to take ownership of your performance while contributing to the success of the broader Admissions team.
