The VP, Corporate Controller is the senior accounting leader responsible for the integrity, accuracy, timeliness, and scalability of the Company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This role leads corporate and practice accounting across a complex, multi-entity and multi-location healthcare organization and establishes the accounting infrastructure, controls, policies, and team capabilities required to support continued growth and acquisitions.

The VP, Corporate Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and serves as a key finance partner to FP&A, Treasury, Revenue Cycle, Payroll, Human Resources, Legal, Operations, and executive leadership. The role owns the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, U.S. GAAP financial reporting, external audit, technical accounting, acquisition accounting, consolidation, and the continued optimization of NetSuite and related financial systems.

Job Description

• Lead the corporate and practice accounting organization, including the development, coaching, and performance management of accounting leaders and staff supporting a geographically dispersed, multi-location organization.

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and consolidation processes, adhering to disciplined close calendars, account ownership, review standards, and reporting timelines.

• Ensure financial statements and accounting records are complete, accurate, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company accounting policies.

•  Support and provide all financial information completely and accurately to our external tax preparers and advisors for annual income tax return preparation and distribution of multiple partner K-1s.

• Oversee accounting for healthcare practice operations, including gross-to-net patient service revenue, accounts receivable and contractual reserves, cash-to-accrual adjustments, operating expenses, payroll and provider compensation accruals, and related balance sheet accounts.

• Oversee corporate accounting for fixed assets, leases under ASC 842, debt, equity, intercompany transactions, contingencies, accruals, and other complex balance sheet and income statement areas.

• Oversee corporate Accounts Payable and ensure optimized use of Coupa P2P platform for AP automation and adherence to internal controls.  

• Lead accounting for acquisitions and integrations, including purchase accounting under ASC 805, opening balance sheets, working capital and balance sheet true-ups, and integration of acquired entities into the Company’s accounting policies, close processes, and financial systems.

• Own the Company’s multi-entity consolidation and intercompany accounting framework, including eliminations, reconciliations, and appropriate accounting for management company and physician practice relationships.

• Serve as the primary accounting owner of NetSuite, ensuring the ERP is appropriately configured and governed to support multi-entity reporting, consolidations, dimensions, workflows, integrations, and scalable accounting processes.

• Establish, document, and maintain a strong internal control environment, including accounting policies, approval controls, balance sheet reconciliation standards, segregation of duties, and financial reporting controls appropriate for a growing privately held company.

• Lead the annual external financial statement audit and coordinate audit planning, technical accounting support, schedules, documentation, and resolution of audit matters.

• Research and document complex accounting matters and new accounting standards; prepare or review technical accounting memoranda and ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP.

• Partner with FP&A and executive leadership to ensure accurate actual results, explain significant balance sheet and P&L movements, and support management and Board reporting.

• Partner with Treasury, Revenue Cycle, Payroll, Human Resources, Legal, Operations, and other functions to improve end-to-end financial processes and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

• Develop accounting talent, succession plans, standardized procedures, and a scalable organizational structure capable of supporting continued organic growth and acquisitions.

• Perform other accounting, financial reporting, systems, and strategic finance responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 5 years in a Controller, Corporate Controller, VP of Accounting, or comparable accounting leadership role.

• Significant healthcare accounting and finance experience required; physician practice management, multi-site provider services, MSO/PPM, or other healthcare services experience strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience leading accounting for a complex, multi-entity and multi-location privately held company; experience in a private equity-backed or acquisition-oriented environment strongly preferred.

• Hands-on NetSuite experience required, including multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, financial reporting, dimensions, workflows, and system/process optimization.

• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and strong technical accounting capabilities, including experience with business combinations (ASC 805), leases (ASC 842), revenue recognition, debt and equity, and other complex accounting matters.

• Experience leading external financial statement audits and managing relationships with external auditors and other professional service providers.

• Proven ability to build and lead high-performing accounting teams while remaining hands-on and detail-oriented in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

• Strong process improvement, internal controls, systems implementation, and finance transformation experience.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and executive presentation capabilities.

• Ability to operate effectively across a decentralized organization and partner with both corporate leaders and field/practice operations.
