Job description

The purpose of Automotive Director of Field Development is to ensure success and provide support for F&I Account Specialist both in store and virtually within the Automotive Training Academy. They will also onboard and train new District Managers, upskill those needing improvement and to drive consistency of process with the Assurant Dealer Services field organization. The Director, Field Development will drive ADS fee generation through the performance of business development assessments and have direct management of the Teleservice District Managers.


What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? 

  • Oversite of F&I Account Specialist administration functions

  • Onboarding and orientation of new specialists

  • Scheduling specialist assignments

  • Collecting and distributing (as appropriate) all specialist assignment reports

  • Tracking and reporting on specialist assignment performance

  • Invoicing clients for account specialist services

  • Intake of payment and remittance to Finance department

  • Tracking and reporting on specialist receivables

  • Completing monthly specialist staffing and revenue reports

  • Direct Management of Account Specialist Team

  • Complete Account Specialist Checklist at day one of each assignment

  • Monitors and audits Account Specialist performance

  • Conducts in field Account Specialist kickoffs, 1:1’s, and onsite inspection

  • Conducts all people managers responsibilities

  • District Manager 30-day ride

  • Schedule 30-day ride for new District Manager with respective Regional Manager

  • Oversee 30-day ride with new DM covering all checklist items

  • Certified completion of 30-day ride for new District Managers

  • Collaborate with other FDM and National VP of Development and Training to update 30-day ride checklist as needed

  • Assist with District Manager Training Class

  • Work with VP of Training to schedule, develop and deliver District Managers class

  • District Manager ride along

  • Assess performance using Performance Evaluation Form

  • Provide feedback to District Managers

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

  • Extensive knowledge of retail automobile dealership operation

  • Current state licensing required for home state or the ability to obtain licensing

  • 4 or more years of District Manager or similar position

  • 2 or more years of experience in the field of sales, management and customer service

  • Communication Ability: The ability to reach an agreement with one or more individuals on a course of action in relation to a defined goal or problem

  • Client Relations: Having a strong concern for client satisfaction and loyalty and the willingness to take actions that promote it

  • Analysis: Relating and comparing data from different sources, identifying issues, securing relevant information, and identifying relationships

  • Impact and Rapport Building: The ability to meet people quickly and establish a trust relationship. Make a positive first impression and exhibit confidence

  • Analyzes Problems and Makes Decisions: Commits to a course of action after identifying and assessing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, resources, constraints and organizational values

  • Addresses Conflict: Works with others to resolve differences in a professional and productive manner.

  • Coach and Develop Others: Helps other excel on the job and meet key accountabilities by providing timely coaching, guidance and feedback

  • AFIP and / or A.C.E. Certification

  • Must reside within 45 minutes of a major airport.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have? 

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong preference given to candidates located in Arizona or Colorado

  • 5+ years retail automotive dealership management experience

  • Proven retail sales experience in the automotive industry a plus

  • Account Specialist or similar Nationwide F&I experience

How much should I expect to travel? 

65% travel

Pay Range:

$103,800.00 - $173,300.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
