Job description

Buying a home is a high-stakes decision. People have to choose where to live and how much to pay, for a home they know very little about, in a market they can't predict. Most buyers are doing this with no experience and nobody on their side.

We're changing that.

We use AI to understand what buyers actually want from a home and what each home is really like. That lets us uncover unique, personalised insights into every home in a way that's never been done before, helping buyers make better decisions about their future.

It's a huge, human problem in an industry worth billions. And for the first time, the technology is good enough to solve it.

We're looking for people who want to help us build it.

What you'll do

As Product Designer, your main role is to make sure that Jitty solves real problems for homebuyers. You’ll be involved in every part of the process, from understanding user needs, to designing experiences and ensuring those needs are met.

  • Deep industry understanding: You’ll become an expert in homebuyers, estate agents, and the housing market. Our industry is big and complex, and designing experiences that break the rules requires deep understanding of the domain.
  • Designing experiences: We’re building agentic AI, which sometimes means we have to invent new user experiences from scratch. So as well as designing user interfaces, we also need to care deeply about the journey, information architecture, and every other part of the experience.
  • User testing: We want to stay close to users at every step of our product development process. User testing isn’t something that happens as a one-off in a development process, it’s something that should happen whenever it’s the quickest way to reduce uncertainty.
  • Working closely with engineers: Our Product Designer will work extremely closely with our engineering team as they bring the Jitty to life. We know that software development involves hundreds of decisions, and teams work best when there’s very tight alignment and communication.

This is a great fit if you…

  • Want to change the world’s biggest industry: Buying a home is the biggest decision of your life, and if we can help people make better decisions, with less stress, then we’ll do a lot of good in the world. We’re already making big waves, and good progress, in a slow moving industry.
  • Are excited by AI: We wholeheartedly believe that AI will drastically transform our industry, and that it’s a privilege to be working on it. AI obviously has overhype and limitations, but we need people that are keen to explore what it can do, and embrace all aspects of the technology.
  • Have proven startup experience: Working at an early-stage startup is really different from working at a scaled company. Right now we need people who already know they thrive in a high ambiguity environment with no dedicated infra teams. We'll relax this for future roles as we grow.
  • Are product-minded: You care deeply about the user experience. You're happiest when you are building something that solves real people's problems, and anyone who has bought a home knows the current process is broken.
  • Are both pragmatic and aspirational: Being an early stage consumer product means that we have both very high expectations of our product, and sometimes need to cut corners. You’ll know when a feature needs to be built to last, and when a quick hacked together solution is enough to test an idea.

This won't be the right role if you…

  • Need a lot of structure or guidance: If you're happiest working from a well defined roadmap and clear tickets, you'll find our current stage frustrating. We learn fast, so our work changes fast. It can feel like chaos sometimes, and that won’t change anytime soon.
  • Aren’t comfortable taking the lead: We give a huge amount of autonomy to every employee at Jitty, which means they need to lead in their area. You’ll need to problem solve, influence those around you, and have a lot of agency.
  • Prefer working on consistent tasks: The stuff you’re working on will change hour-by-hour. There is a lot for us all to cover, and we learn very fast, which means the ground is constantly shifting underneath us. That’s part of the fun, but we know it’s not for everyone.

How we work

  • Fully remote, done right: We're based around the U.K. and Europe, and the majority of our work is async. We collaborate heavily through writing and code, using video calls selectively. We usually meet up in person for a day or two every few weeks, typically in London.
  • 9-day fortnights: Working hard is hard, so we operate on a 9-day fortnight. Every two weeks, the entire company takes Friday off to rest, recharge, or do whatever they want.
  • You decide your L&D: We provide an education budget but don't micromanage how you spend it. Whether it's books, online courses, or attending a conference, we trust you to know what will best support your growth.a
