Job Description:
Head of Products
About Us
Flui Technologies is a leading software solution provider to the energy and water sector, delivering innovative and scalable software infrastructure and services since 1990. Our solutions - MarketFlow, MeterFlow and DCC adapter - support market competition, smart metering, network flexibility and supplier integration across Energy Retail, Energy Networks and Water Retail, and are used to manage messaging for more than 35 million electricity and gas meter points, with millions of records processed per day.
As the utility sector evolves to meet the challenges of Net Zero, Smart Metering, Energy Code reform, Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, Demand-side Response and Embedded Generation, we combine deep industry knowledge with technical innovation to deliver robust, business-focused solutions backed by dedicated people and exceptional support.
The Role
The Head of Products owns product strategy and roadmap execution across Flui's solution portfolio, leading a team of Product Owners and Product Managers. This role sits at the intersection of technology, customer need and commercial opportunity - shaping what Flui builds next, why, and how it is delivered.
You will drive the strategic roadmap across MarketFlow, MeterFlow and DCC adapter, ensuring it reflects genuine customer value, technical feasibility and commercial potential. You will champion the adoption and exploitation of AI-DLC (AI-Driven Development Lifecycle) practices to increase product velocity and quality, working closely with the Technology Director and engineering leadership. You will also keep the business ahead of developments in the energy sector - regulatory, technological and competitive - translating change into commercial opportunity in partnership with the Commercial Director.
This is a role for someone equally comfortable in a commercial conversation, a customer discovery session, and a technical architecture discussion - genuinely bilingual between the business and the platform.
The Head of Products will report to the Technology Director and will be responsible for:
- Owning and driving the product strategy and multi-year roadmap across Flui's product portfolio, balancing customer needs, commercial opportunity and technical feasibility.
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of Product Owners and Product Managers, setting clear priorities and raising the standard of product practice across the group.
- Championing a genuinely customer-focused approach to product development - engaging directly with clients, gathering and prioritising feedback, and ensuring the roadmap reflects real customer value.
- Staying current with developments in the energy sector - regulatory change such as Net Zero, Smart Metering, Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, grid flexibility, the Retail Energy Code (REC) and Embedded Generation - and translating them into product opportunities ahead of the market.
- Identifying and shaping new commercial opportunities, working closely with the Commercial Director on pricing, packaging and go-to-market for new and existing product capability.
- Championing the adoption and exploitation of AI-DLC across product and engineering, partnering with the Technology Director to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and governance.
- Owning product discovery and prioritisation, ensuring Product Owners translate strategy into well-defined, deliverable backlogs for engineering.
- Representing product strategy at leadership team level, reporting on roadmap progress, adoption and commercial impact.
- Partnering with the Technology Director on architecture and technical feasibility, ensuring product ambition is grounded in what the platform can realistically support.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key customers, prospects and industry stakeholders to inform product direction and validate commercial opportunities.
- Establishing product metrics and governance - adoption, customer satisfaction, roadmap delivery - to demonstrate product impact to the leadership team.
- Championing knowledge sharing across the product and engineering community, ensuring product thinking and market insight are well understood beyond the product team itself.
Essential Competencies and Experience
Business Acumen
- Demonstrable experience translating market and customer insight into commercially successful product strategy in a B2B software business.
- Strong understanding of energy sector dynamics, with the ability to identify and act on emerging commercial opportunities.
- Comfortable balancing customer and product ambition against commercial reality and delivery capacity.
Product & Technical Leadership
- Proven track record leading and developing a team of Product Owners and/or Product Managers.
- Technically credible - able to engage confidently with engineering and architecture discussions and make grounded trade-off decisions.
- Experience adopting AI-assisted or AI-driven development practices (e.g. AI-DLC) to improve product and engineering velocity.
- Strong grasp of product management best practice: discovery, prioritisation, roadmapping and outcome-based delivery.
General
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across customers, engineering, commercial and leadership.
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable using product and market data to inform decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, able to articulate product vision and rationale to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
Job Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant discipline (business, computer science, engineering) is a bonus, or equivalent product leadership experience.
- Experience in energy, utilities or another regulated, technical B2B software sector is highly desirable.
Your Personal Characteristics Will Include
- Genuinely customer-obsessed, always looking to understand and solve real customer problems.
- Equally comfortable in a commercial conversation and a technical or architecture discussion.
- Curious and forward-looking, quick to spot and act on market and technology change, including AI.
- A strong leader and coach, invested in developing the product team's capability.
- Decisive, able to prioritise ruthlessly in a fast-moving market.
- Collaborative, building strong working relationships across Sales, Engineering and Customer Success.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and responsibilities. UK based only.
