Senior/Associate Planner

At Origin Enterprises, we are dedicated to championing sustainable land use, and our Environmental teams support a diverse range of clients and projects—from land management and development to restoration and conservation.

Joining us means becoming part of a collaborative, purpose driven community where this collective expertise enables us to deliver high quality, fully integrated solutions and contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes across the UK and Ireland.

About Neo

Neo Environmental is a multidisciplinary consultancy that provides market leading, cost-effective planning, environmental and technical solutions to clients working in the energy, residential, retail, utilities, mixed-use, aggregates and infrastructure sectors across the UK and Ireland.

We work closely with our clients throughout the duration of projects to ensure that we have a thorough understanding of their requirements and to achieve optimum designs.

Our team consists of experienced and accredited planners, engineers and multi-disciplinary environmental consultants, ensuring we provide a full suite of in-house collaborative services for projects.

We have an enviable track record for successfully consenting projects, whether small or complex, through our comprehensive understanding of planning requirements, particularly in the renewable energy industry.

The role will include:

Taking a lead role in managing small- to medium scale planning applications, overseeing all stages of the project, from preparation to submission, while coordinating work with Planning Consultants, Graduate Consultants, and Administrators.

In addition to leading smaller projects, supporting senior colleagues on larger, more

complex TCPA, DNS, and NSIP projects, carrying out tasks assigned by project leads.

Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Planner or Licentiate Planner working towards RTPI status
  • Strong to comprehensive understanding of the UK planning system and planning process.
  • Experience managing planning applications, including leading small- to medium-scale projects and supporting or leading major TCPA and DNS applications.
  • Ability to project manage applications from preparation through submission and delivery.
  • Experience coordinating, mentoring, and delegating work to consultants, graduates, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while recognising when senior input is required.
  • Proven ability to support or lead complex TCPA, DNS and NSIP planning projects.
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills, producing high-quality planning documentation and correspondence.
  • Ability to formulate planning strategies and identify key planning issues associated with development sites.
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, including attendance at or leadership of client, project and Local Planning Authority meetings.
  • Experience participating in or leading community engagement and consultation activities.
  • Strong presentation and public-speaking skills, including contributing to or chairing meetings and presenting to small audiences.
  • Ability to make sound project decisions and escalate significant issues where appropriate.
  • Established or developing professional network with a proactive approach to relationship building and business promotion.
  • Interest and involvement in business development activities, including identifying and supporting new business opportunities.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and workload management skills.
  • Ability to delegate effectively, support junior colleagues and ensure high levels of team productivity.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Team-focused approach with the ability to identify, communicate and resolve resourcing or workload issues.
