Job description

Business Development Specialist

About the job

Location: Limassol, Cyprus. Office based, with travel for client meetings and events. Reports to: CEO

About Our client

our client is a digital banking platform for businesses and individuals in sectors that traditional banks decline. Customers get a full account: EU IBAN, virtual Mastercard, instant and SEPA transfers, bulk payouts, direct platform integrations, and support from people who understand their industry.

The product is in development and close to launch. This role starts before launch and builds the pipeline and early adopter base from scratch.

Sectors

Our client serves a wide range of industries. The main ones for this role are:

  • Adult and content creation. Cam models, OnlyFans and Fanvue creators, creator agencies, studios, adult sites and affiliates.
  • iGaming and betting. Licensed gambling operators, affiliates, sports betting, spread betting, binary options.
  • Crypto, blockchain and forex. Exchanges, OTC desks, Web3 businesses, forex platforms, traders.
  • Payments infrastructure. PSPs, payment orchestrators, corporate service providers.

This list is not exhaustive. Candidates need existing knowledge of at least one of these markets and an understanding of why businesses in them struggle to obtain and retain banking.

Responsibilities

  • Build and work a pipeline of business and personal account prospects across the sectors above, through cold outreach, referrals and introductions.
  • Onboard early adopters ahead of and through launch, and manage those relationships so they are retained.
  • Represent our client at industry events, including affiliate and iGaming conferences, adult industry trade shows, and crypto and fintech events.
  • Work with compliance to qualify prospects and move them through onboarding. Understand what will and will not pass before committing time to a deal.
  • Feed customer feedback into the product roadmap.
  • Meet targets on accounts opened, transaction volume and retention. Targets are set jointly.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years in business development or sales, in banking, payments, fintech, or directly within one of the sectors listed above. Experience as an affiliate manager, at a PSP, at a crypto exchange or in the adult industry is as relevant as experience at a bank.
  • An active network in at least one of adult, iGaming or crypto.
  • Working knowledge of high risk banking and payments, including rolling reserves, chargeback ratios, offboarding, and how KYC and AML apply in practice.
  • Confident at events and in direct outreach. Much of the business in these sectors is done in person and through industry channels.
  • Willing to be publicly associated with these sectors.
  • Fluent English.

Desirable

  • Existing relationships with banks, EMIs, acquirers or other account and payment providers.
  • Experience selling into EU markets and familiarity with EU regulatory constraints.
  • An established profile or following in one of the target sectors.
  • A second language relevant to the target markets.

Working pattern

  • Office based, with regular travel for client meetings and events. Occasional working from home where the schedule allows. This is not a remote role.
  • We will not be assisting with relocation. Applicants must have the right to reside and work in Cyprus.

Compensation: 2500 to 4000
