Test Automation Engineer

Location: Remote (Europe-based preferred)

Position Overview

Newel Health is seeking a talented and proactive Test Automation Engineer to build and maintain robust automated testing frameworks for our certified SaMD and digital therapeutics. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of our software across web, mobile, and backend systems. Working closely with our development and QA teams, you will contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools and best practices.
  • Identify test scenarios and create comprehensive test plans for functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous and efficient testing.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work collaboratively with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of test data and test environments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and trends, and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with manual testers to identify areas for automation and improve overall test coverage.
  • Document test plans, test cases, and test results clearly and concisely.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 62304).

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in test automation, preferably within a regulated industry like medical devices or digital health.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
  • Familiarity with different testing methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Understanding of software testing principles, test design patterns, and defect management processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with testing of mobile applications (iOS and Android) and backend APIs.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing practices is a plus.
  • Experience with development in compliance with IEC 62304 is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; additional EU languages a plus.
