Job description

Your impact at gridX

Lead people. Shape technology. Accelerate the energy transition.

At gridX, we are building the digital infrastructure for a renewable and decentralized energy system.
Our software connects electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and energy systems to make charging smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable. As the adoption of electric mobility continues to grow, so does the complexity of managing the infrastructure behind it.

That's where you come in.

As an Engineering Team Lead, you will combine people leadership with strong technical expertise. You will lead and develop a team of talented software engineers while staying close enough to the technology to understand challenges, support decisions, and help your team build reliable products.

This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer or technical lead who has already gained hands-on people management experience and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.

How you can contribute to gridX

Lead and develop your team

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of software engineers.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and provide continuous feedback and guidance.
  • Support the professional and personal development of your team members.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Help your team set clear goals and create an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Take responsibility for team health, motivation, and performance.
Shape technology
  • Work closely with your team to make sound technical and architectural decisions.
  • Act as a technical sparring partner for engineers and help navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Ensure high standards for software quality, reliability, maintainability, and observability.
  • Stay close to the technology and understand the systems your team is building.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and architecture without needing to be the team's primary developer.
Connect people, product, and technology
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, other Engineering Leads, and stakeholders.
  • Help translate product goals into clear technical priorities for your team.
  • Balance technical excellence with business and customer needs.
  • Help your team plan and deliver meaningful improvements and new features.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering organization and ways of working.

This is how you and your application stand out

We are looking for someone who combines strong software engineering experience with genuine people leadership.

You bring

  • Practical people experience leading and developing software engineers, including regular 1:1s, feedback, coaching, and supporting individual development.
  • A strong technical foundation and the ability to engage confidently in technical and architectural discussions.
  • Experience taking ownership and making decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • A collaborative and coaching-oriented leadership style.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
  • A genuine interest in building products that have a real-world impact.
It would be a plus if you have
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud technologies, IoT, or edge computing.
  • Experience with Go, Rust, C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, observability, or modern cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in energy, EV charging, mobility, or another complex infrastructure domain.
