Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000

About the Role

The Brand & Content Manager serves as BCI's editorial lead, shaping how we tell the stories of our science, conservation, and impact. The person in this role will develop compelling, audience-centered content that inspires supporters, engages donors, and strengthens the BCI brand across every public-facing channel.

Working closely with colleagues across Marketing & Communications, Philanthropy, and Conservation, you'll ensure our voice is consistent, our storytelling is engaging, and our content reflects the quality and impact of our mission.

What You’ll Do

As our Brand & Content Manager, you will:

  • Lead BCI's editorial strategy, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, messaging, and quality across all communications. 
  • Create and produce compelling content across web, email, social media, video, publications, and print. 
  • Work with experts to turn complex scientific and conservation work into engaging, accessible stories, tailored to a wide range of audiences. 
  • Manage the editorial calendar and oversee content planning, workflows, approvals, and production schedules. 
  • Serve as Managing Editor for BATS Magazine, the Annual Report, and other major organizational publications. 
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Digital Strategy, Philanthropy, and Conservation teams to support campaigns, fundraising, and audience engagement. 
  • Manage the organization's Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to ensure content and creative assets are organized and easily accessible. 
  • Apply SEO and digital content best practices to improve content visibility and audience reach.  

Responsibilities may evolve as organizational priorities and conservation initiatives grow.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and audiences. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 
  • Experience leading editorial planning and managing content production from concept through publication. 
  • Ability to translate factual information into engaging, compelling, public-facing stories about our work. 
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams. 
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and digital asset management tools. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to editorial quality and consistency. 

Preferred Qualifications

We're especially interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience working for a nonprofit, conservation, science, or mission-driven organization. 
  • Experience managing long-form publications, magazines, or annual reports. 
  • Knowledge of digital content strategy, audience engagement, and content performance analytics.

Work Environment

  • This position is remote and requires regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple departments in a virtual environment.
