Job description

R1 is the leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems, and physician groups. We combine deep healthcare expertise, a global workforce, and advanced capabilities across analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration to help healthcare organizations improve performance at scale.

As an Integration Specialist III, you will execute more complex interface projects with limited guidance while helping connect healthcare data across R1 platforms and client systems. This role is designed for someone with healthcare data exchange knowledge, interface engine exposure, strong data skills, and the ability to manage implementation work through issue resolution, optimization, and completion.

You will partner with team leads, experienced analysts, project teams, and internal or external clients to support integrations, troubleshoot client issues, contribute to data flow improvements, and support client go-lives. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, comfortable working independently, and able to flex across multiple projects and programs simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex interface projects with minimal guidance from a team lead or experienced analyst.
  • Organize, manage, and drive implementation issue resolution and optimization through completion.
  • Support healthcare data exchange work involving HL7, FHIR/API, X12, flat files, XML, and related integration formats.
  • Use Rhapsody Interface Engine or equivalent interface engine software to support interface work, data flows, and implementation needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client integration issues by applying knowledge of business workflows and Rhapsody data flows.
  • Apply strong data, data extract, basic coding, and SQL/query skills to support implementation, validation, and optimization work.
  • Recommend improvements with internal and external clients while maintaining acute attention to detail.
  • Support client go-lives after hours as needed and participate in periodic on-call coverage.
  • Contribute to team initiatives within the Deployment or Development team when opportunities arise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Limited experience utilizing Rhapsody Interface Engine or other equivalent interface engine software.
  • Strong knowledge of data and data extract solutions.
  • Basic coding skills in JavaScript, C++, SQL queries, or equivalent technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare data exchange, which may include HL7, FHIR/API, X12, flat files, and XML.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively, listen to understand, ask clarifying questions, participate in meetings, and deliver clear and concise training.
  • Ability to edit written work for spelling and grammar, vary writing style to meet audience needs, and present numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to flex across multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work on-call for one week at a time several times per year.
  • Willingness to work after hours as needed to support client go-lives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Orion Rhapsody Associate-level certification or equivalent education completed.
  • Basic workflow knowledge across the technology stack.
  • Ability to work and contribute in an innovative environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate objectivity and openness to others’ views.
  • Ability to give and welcome constructive feedback.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on building positive team spirit.
  • Ability to put the team’s success above individual interests.
  • Ability to build morale and support group commitment to goals and objectives.
  • Interest in volunteering to help with initiatives within the Deployment or Development team.
