Senior FullStack Developer (React + PHP)

Role Overview

We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Full Stack Engineer to join one of our client's cross-functional engineering teams. This role is responsible for building and maintaining customer-facing experiences and internal tools within a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

We're looking for an engineer who is comfortable working across the full stack, with strong hands-on experience building modern frontend applications in React using JavaScript/TypeScript, along with solid backend development experience in PHP (Laravel preferred). While our client's platform is built on Shopify Liquid, success in this role is driven less by expertise in a specific framework and more by the ability to quickly understand complex systems, adapt to evolving business needs, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision.

Although this is a true Full Stack role, candidates should be confident working daily with React, including component-based architecture, state management, TypeScript, and modern frontend development practices, while also contributing to backend services, APIs, and integrations.

This individual will be expected to take ownership of projects from discovery through delivery, collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders, and proactively propose solutions in an environment where priorities evolve quickly. We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term member of the team, contributing not only through technical excellence but also through collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable frontend and backend solutions for our ecommerce platform and internal applications.
  
• Build and maintain modern React applications using JavaScript and TypeScript, implementing reusable components, state management, and responsive user experiences.
  
• Build and maintain backend services using PHP (Laravel preferred) and integrate them with frontend applications.
  
• Integrate with Shopify Storefront APIs and backend services as needed.
  
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
  
• Take ownership of projects from planning through implementation, proactively identifying risks, removing blockers, and driving work to completion.
  
• Contribute to architectural discussions and continuously improve engineering practices, code quality, performance, and maintainability.
  
• Break down complex initiatives into incremental, deliverable work while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  
• Participate actively in technical discussions, stand-ups, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional collaboration.
  
• Mentor other engineers by example through strong technical leadership, collaboration, and code quality.

What you'll bring

• 7+ years of experience building complex web applications as a Full Stack Engineer.
  
• Strong hands-on experience with React, including component-based development, state management, hooks, and modern React patterns.
  
• Strong expertise in object-oriented JavaScript and TypeScript.
  
• Solid backend development experience using PHP (Laravel preferred).
  
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  
• Experience building and maintaining production-ready frontend applications with React and TypeScript.
  
• Experience working across frontend and backend technologies in modern web applications.
  
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with changing priorities.
  
• Demonstrated ownership mentality, proactively driving initiatives and solving problems with minimal supervision.
  
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working directly with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
  
• Comfortable being fully engaged during remote collaboration, including active participation in team meetings and technical discussions.
  
• Experience working in startup or high-growth environments is highly preferred.

• Shopify Liquid and Shopify Storefront API.
• Laravel.

• Contentful or other headless CMS platforms.
  
• Experience with modular or monorepo architectures.
  
• Familiarity with experimentation platforms such as Optimizely and A/B testing frameworks.
  
• Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers.
  
• Experience in high-traffic e-commerce environments.
