Job description

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Post-Collection Operations, the Recycling Materials Marketing and Recovery Manager will lead the management of commodity marketing contracts and direct recycling agreements with secondary processors. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of materials through the system, optimizing revenue, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The MMRM will oversee material flow, performance tracking, and day-to-day issue resolution across marketing and processing partners, while working closely with internal teams to ensure accurate reporting, financial alignment, and achievement of regulatory recovery targets.


This is a full-time position, salaried paid and requires residency in Canada.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage commodity marketing agreements and direct contracts with secondary processors/end-markets, including performance, compliance, and commercial outcomes.
  • Track and manage material flow from preconditioning facilities to end-markets, ensuring continuity of movement and timely issue resolution.
  • Monitor material composition and quality, working with operations and audit teams to identify risks, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Calculate and validate facility yields and recovery performance, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure accurate and complete reporting from service providers, including reconciliation of volumes, revenues, and performance metrics.
  • Act as the primary liaison between post-collection operations, marketing agents, finance, audit, and service provider reporting teams to resolve daily operational and financial issues.
  • Work closely with post-collection operations managers to address processing, logistics, and material quality challenges impacting marketability and revenue.
  • Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly reports on:
    • Commodity market performance,
    • Marketing partner performance,
    • Revenue per ton and yield trends
    • Risks and opportunities.
  • Assess and support new market development opportunities, including domestic and export end-markets, to improve system resilience and maximize revenue.
  • Support contract implementation, change orders, and ongoing optimization of processing and marketing arrangements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational, contractual, and market-related issues impacting system performance.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, environmental management, or related fields is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, and experiences may be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in commodity marketing, recycling markets, or materials trading, with direct exposure to plastics, fiber, or metals markets.
  • Experience managing commercial contracts with processors, brokers, or end-markets.
  • Demonstrated experience tracking material flows, yields, and revenue performance within recycling or commodity supply chains.

Knowledge/Competencies/Skills

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context.
  • Strong understanding of recycling commodity markets, pricing mechanisms, and end-market requirements.
  • Experience with data analysis, yield calculations, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day operational issues across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working with operations, finance, audit, and reporting teams.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and accountability.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Self-starter with a high degree of motivation and ownership, able to operate independently and drive outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; experience with reporting systems and dashboards is an asset.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment.
  • Extra or flexible hours may be required on occasion. The job demands that the incumbent have a flexible work schedule with periods of uneven workload.
  • This role requires field work. As a result, there will be some variability in scheduling to accommodate operational needs.
  • A valid Driver’s license is required, and comprehensive vehicle insurance is required. 


PAY TRANSPARENCY

Expected Compensation: 

  • An annual base salary in the range of $90,000 to $110,000
  • The salary range listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects a potential base salary range for this role.  The actual salary offered will be determined within the range, and will depend on factors, such as the candidate’s unique qualifications, relevant experience, work location and expected contributions.
