Job description

WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

As a member of the Integrated Medicine Business Unit, this role is responsible for delivering region net revenue performance and expense management through the identification, prioritization, and execution of significant net revenue commercial opportunities, and through longer-term understanding of the customer/market environment. Translate the Business Units vision and strategies to align, engage and inspire colleagues across the Sales organization.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

  • Drive brand performance and engage with customers to gain market insights to make informed decisions and implement impactful sales strategies to accelerate Pfizer’s mission for patients to make informed decisions

  • Accountable for leading regional sales strategies, monitoring pull through success and implementing changes when needed in close collaboration, and working compliantly, with functional partners.

  • Lead strategic and compliant regional collaboration with marketing & cross functional partners that includes strategy development, planning, meetings, thought leadership and pull through initiatives.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of national and regional meetings and provide insights and leadership to the brand teams.

  • Assist in the Incentive Compensation planning process and leading the communication and execution process to the region.

  • Maximize connectivity & presence in the market with key stakeholders by attending conventions, congresses, speaker programs, insight dinners and conducting field rides to inform national strategies.

  • Collaborate with RBD peers to share successes, best practices and experiences while encouraging ABMs to communicate across the organization.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

People Leadsership:

  • Coaching team members, documenting growth goals, performance management, team culture building.

  • Leading Leaders Area Business Managers (ABMs) by providing consistent coaching and development across ABM cohort .  

  • Develop, sustain & elevate a high ABM team culture around people and performance.

  • Share and communicate top ABM talent across Business Units (BUs).

  • Leading and engaging sales representatives by conducting field rides to gather customer insights and assess talent and capabilities.

  • Conduct growth conversations with fast/far colleagues, identify underperforming reps, and share/communicate top rep talent across BUs.

  • Responsible for Regional Culture platform to maintain culture of high engagement, increase retention and engagement with consistent connections and communication.

  • Lead and ensure a compliant culture at every level of the Region regarding all Pfizer policies, procedures and relevant regulations.

  • Lead and be accountable for the Region’s HR-related processes to include, but not limited to: consistency in interviewing and hiring practices, Annual Goal Setting and Year-End Process (e.g. Team Performance and Year End Reviews), Annual Compensation Process (i.e. Merit, and LTI), Bonus Awards, Coach360, Growth Pathway Continuum, Talent Planning (e.g. Talent Assessments and IDPs) and PIP process.

Business Operations:

  • Provide strategic input, support for and execution of tactics and new initiatives that impact the business and the organization.

  • Support and ensure effective rollout of enterprise-wide initiatives.

  • Champion the Purpose Blueprint, Ambitions, Bold Moves and Values and ensure behaviors are modeled at all levels of the region.

  • Lead/Oversee regional colleague development platforms such as StepUp and Leadership Lab.

  • Champion and lead on initiatives supporting the Business Unit ways of working.

  • Lead on projects that would enhance the business effectiveness via platforms or processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 12+ years of experience.

  • 15+ years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience.

  • Minimum of three years management experience leading a team.

  • The RBD role is primarily a field-based role with an expectation that colleagues will spend 3 days per week in the field, this must be achievable from the RBD’s home location within reasonable time and cost.

  • Proven track record of sales performance and meeting organizational goals.

  • Demonstrated matrix leadership experience, including leading others who hold leadership roles.

  • Experience leading and building organizations with a diverse team of colleagues with different grades and responsibilities.

  • Proven ability to manage performance and develop talent.

  • Valid US driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards.  Any DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past 7 years will disqualify you from being hired.

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree with at least 10+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 7+ years of experience; OR a MD with 5+ years of experience.

  • Minimum of three years spent leading a pharmaceuticals sales team and/or developmental role with demonstrated leadership of teams is preferred.

  • Previous leadership/ supervisory experience preferred and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on business imperatives.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong understanding of IMB therapeutic categories will be taken into consideration given short duration of secondment.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical business.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions using sales data/call reporting software/applications.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to think and communicate with the audience's needs first.

  • Excellent facilitation skills.
