The Archiving Project Manager will be responsible for the following as it relates to archiving data from legacy applications

  • Develop the project scope and objectives, and prepare a project plan outlining tasks and milestones with the archiving vendor.
  • Gather and review relevant background information, including a current application inventory.
  • Establish a Project Sponsor status meeting schedule, ensuring alignment of this project in accordance with the Epic deployment.
  • Identify the Governance Structure and Advisory Committees that will be involved in decision-making, leveraging existing structures and committees where appropriate.
  • Define the Guiding Principles and Decision Criteria as they relate to application retirement, in accordance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Confirm the data retention requirements considering the organizational requirements already in place and legal regulations; and educate IT and organizational resources as necessary.
  • Confirm legacy application and operations owners and, as necessary, conduct interviews to identify data use, user volume, etc.
  • Lead the development of archiving options, approach, timeline, and resources with project stakeholders and the archiving vendor.
  • Direct activities and collaborate to lead to organizational consensus on archiving strategy, which ultimately leads to legacy application retirement.
  • Project manage and execute on all project activities required to ensure successful retirement of the legacy applications.
  • Document issues, risks, and mitigation, and escalate as appropriate to leadership.
  • Document status on a weekly basis
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years managing complex healthcare IT projects, preferably involving EHR implementations or major application transitions.
  • Proven experience leading legacy application decommissioning, data archiving, data migration, or application rationalization projects.
  • Strong ability to coordinate executive sponsors, IT/business stakeholders, application owners, governance committees, and third-party archiving vendors.
  • Experience defining data retention requirements, understanding healthcare regulatory/legal requirements, and establishing governance and decision criteria for application retirement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management certification such as PMP is strongly preferred.
