Job description

About Sprintlaw (UK) Ltd

We’re a disruptive new kind of legal services provider with a mission to change the way legal services are delivered. Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible legal services for startups and small businesses. After years of award-winning growth in Australia, our business expanded into the UK market in 2020.

We’re focused on efficiency, simplicity and embracing technology, and in the UK, have been recognised with awards including Alternative Legal Service Provider of the Year (British Legal Awards), Innovator of the Year (British Legal Technology Awards), and Innovation of the Year (Modern Law Awards).

We offer clients a range of fixed-fee legal packages covering everything that small businesses and startups need – company set up, contract review and negotiation, employment, capital raising and data protection. We run our business like a tech startup, with user experience, creativity and lean thinking at the core of our culture.

We’re currently looking for a commercial lawyer with 2-4 PQE to join our growing team in the UK.

Key experience and skills:

We're looking for a qualified lawyer with around 3 years PQE in general commercial law, preferably having worked in a leading private practice or in-house environment in England or Wales.

The successful candidate should be confident to take ownership of most of their own matters, particularly in basic commercial law.

In addition, specialisation in any of the following areas would be favourably considered:

  • Technology & IP contracts;
  • Privacy, data protection and GDPR related work; and
  • Employment law.

The successful candidate would also demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Personable, with experience working directly with clients;
  • Tech-savvy, able to operate our technology platforms;
  • Independent, comfortable working autonomously; and
  • Efficient, works smart and get things done.

Note: We are a legal consultancy, not a regulated law firm. This means we can only provide services in specific areas of practice and do not handle disputes or litigation. However, this also allows us to consider a broader range of candidates for this role.

Since we can hire employees with international legal qualifications, UK qualifications are highly valued but not essential. Additionally, while experience within UK firms is a strong advantage, we also welcome applicants with experience in other common law jurisdictions.

More information about the legal consultancy model can be found here: https://sprintlaw.co.uk/faq/

Cultural Requirements

  • Personable, with experience working directly with clients
  • Tech-savvy, able to operate our technology platforms
  • Independent, comfortable working autonomously
  • Efficient, works smart and get things done

You’ll get to work autonomously while being part of an innovative and collaborative team.

We have a fully distributed international team and take flexible working seriously. Our general approach is that you can choose how you best work, whether it be from home, the office, or somewhere else. We allow and support working while travelling. We also allow working at flexible times of day, so you can fit your work around your personal schedule.

For us it’s more than just taking your laptop home - we know that it takes effective project management, communication and transparent accountability to make flexible arrangements work. We provide allowances for work from home equipment and coworking space access to help make this work.

Please submit your CV and cover letter addressing the skills and experience required.
