Java Developer

Role Description
Client's Equipment Intelligence organization is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join the EIDA (Equipment Intelligence Data Analyzer) team — one of the most complex and data-intensive applications under the EI umbrella. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing high-performance data processing and analytical components within a large-scale on-premise big data ecosystem.
You will collaborate closely with onshore and offshore engineers, data scientists, and system architects to deliver solutions that analyze massive volumes of manufacturing and equipment telemetry data, supporting Clients mission to enable smarter, data-driven semiconductor processes.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain backend components using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch within a distributed big-data environment.
• Implement multi-threaded, high-performance data processing logic capable of handling large-scale time-series and telemetry datasets.
• Collaborate on data ingestion and transformation pipelines leveraging Python and Apache Spark frameworks.
• Develop and maintain APIs and integration layers with Angular-based front-end and other EI ecosystem applications.
• Manage data storage and retrieval operations across HDFS/Hadoop and Postgres environments (primarily for metadata and time-series data).
• Contribute to continuous integration and testing processes using Bitbucket (Git-based SCM), Jenkins, and shell scripting for on-prem deployments.
• Ensure robust code quality through peer reviews, unit testing, and adherence to Client's secure coding standards.
• Work with cross-functional global teams (onshore and offshore) to support development, testing, and deployment cycles.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to performance tuning of data pipelines and Java processes.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) within a 7-member Scrum team.

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in Java software development, including strong object-oriented design and multi-threading.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and RESTful API development.
• Strong understanding of Big Data ecosystems, specifically HDFS, Hadoop, and Spark.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or complementary data pipeline logic.
• Working knowledge of Postgres or other RDBMS platforms for metadata and time-series data management.
• Familiarity with Angular or modern front-end integration frameworks.
• Experience with Bitbucket (or Git), Jenkins, and shell scripting for CI/CD automation and on-prem deployments.
• Ability to write performant, reusable, and well-tested code for data-intensive applications.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills for JVM-based systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a distributed global team model.
• Strong Experience with testing. Experience writing automated unit tests. Automated conditioning
• Proficiency deploying in Unix environment within Docker. Comfortable writing Unix scripting
• Non-Negotiable: strong experience tuning queries. Need to know how to write complex queries, enhance the data model for future enhancements.

Nice to Have
• Experience with Kafka or MQTT message brokers for streaming or event-driven architectures.
• Exposure to time-series databases or frameworks for equipment telemetry.
• Understanding of manufacturing systems, equipment analytics, or semiconductor process data.
• Familiarity with on-prem cluster environments and private infrastructure deployments.

Work Environment
• All development and production environments are on-premise due to client privacy and data security requirements.
• Internal CI/CD pipelines and test clusters are available for validation and release automation.
• Collaboration across onshore (U.S.) and offshore (India) engineering resources.
