About the Position:

Makpar has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Monitoring/Observability Architect to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead technical strategy and solution design for enterprise monitoring and observability platforms, providing technical leadership and architecture guidance for a large, systems-wide federal program.


Role Specific Duties/ Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical strategy and solution design for monitoring platforms and integrations (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, DataDog, ElkStack, or equivalent).
  • Define implementation patterns for telemetry ingestion, alerting, dashboarding, and ITSM integration with ServiceNow and CMDB.
  • Produce architecture artifacts and technical standards, and support the development of technical strategies and architectures for systems-wide practice solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for a segment of large projects, applying best practice models and methods at a department, workgroup, or enterprise systems level.
  • Lead team members, third parties, and technology counterparts in the implementation of architecture solutions at a systems level.
  • Build rapport, confidence, and trust within the organization, representing Makpar as a premier solution provider and vested partner.
  • Review and document solutions after project completion, and present results to senior management.
  • Provide expertise on IT issues and trends between Makpar and the customer, and develop and recommend solutions and strategies based on customer business goals.
  • Conduct customer system-wide technical needs analysis, and research, analyze, and evaluate existing systems infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development of proposal and bid strategies, and review completed proposals for technical integrity, quality, and consistency.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer on an individual and organizational basis between Makpar and the customer.
  • Coordinate with the project/program manager to achieve timely, effective, and profitable delivery, applying advanced project and program management techniques throughout the architecture process.
  • Resolve tactical problems and support the customer throughout the solution and implementation process.
  • Keep current on industry, practice, and technology trends within the monitoring and observability space, and apply that knowledge to identify emerging market trends.

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in enterprise monitoring, observability, or APM engineering, including architecture and integration work.
  • Extensive cross-industry experience delivering complex solutions, with the ability to engage in technical problem solving across multiple technologies and develop new methods as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and third-party partners through complex architecture implementations.
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder-management skills, with experience briefing senior leadership on solution design and project outcomes.
  • Experience developing proposal and bid strategies for large-scale, enterprise-level engagements.

  • Additional Qualifications as per contract/client (Optional or Preferred):
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk, AppDynamics, DataDog, or the Elastic Stack.
  • Experience integrating monitoring solutions with ServiceNow and CMDB.
