Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sr Software Engineer or Manager of Software Engineering to join our team to support optimizing solutions focused on NetSuite and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in NetSuite, SuiteScript, accounting, inventory management, warehouses, manufacturing, and 3PLs. This role will oversee the design, development, and integration of complex business systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational efficiency. The Manager of Software Engineering will manage cross-functional projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. This position reports to the Director of EDI.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

NetSuite Development and Optimization:

  • Support the design and implementation of custom NetSuite solutions using SuiteScript (2.x) for workflows, user events, and integrations.
  • Optimize NetSuite configurations to support accounting (GL, AR/AP, financial reporting), inventory management, and order processing.
  • Ensure scalability and performance of NetSuite-based applications.

Project Management:

  • Plan, prioritize, and execute engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Work with product managers, finance, and operations teams to define requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Track project progress using Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira, Monday, or Asana.
  • Implement and enforce Git methodologies (e.g., branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews) for version control and collaboration.
  • Oversee audit processes to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide hands-on guidance in SuiteScript development, REST/SOAP APIs, and NetSuite SuiteFlow/SuiteTalk.
  • Ensure best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment for all engineering deliverables.
  • Stay updated on NetSuite updates, Shopify APIs, Celigo enhancements, and EDI standards to drive continuous improvement. 

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with accounting, inventory, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business processes.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for NetSuite and related technologies during strategic planning.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with NetSuite, including SuiteScript (2.x) and Javascript.
  • Proven expertise in accounting processes (e.g., GL, AR/AP, financial reporting) and inventory management within NetSuite.
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify API and e-commerce integrations.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SuiteScript (JavaScript-based), REST/SOAP APIs, and NetSuite customizations.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira, Git, or similar.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and inventory management processes.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Preferred:

  • NetSuite certifications (e.g., SuiteFoundation, Administrator, or Developer).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures and microservices.

Salary: $160,000-170,000, based on experience

Location: Remote or hybrid (if in the SLC, Utah area)
