ABOUT CITY SCIENCE
City Science was founded in 2015 with a core mission of delivering decarbonisation. We help organisations who are committed to decarbonisation achieve meaningful and quantifiable carbon reductions quickly and efficiently. We work collaboratively across our business to provide integrated solutions to our clients. Our range of clients is extensive and includes major bodies such as DESNZ, the Climate Change Committee (CCC), and a range of forward-thinking local authorities. Our business includes award-winning research, software and product development teams who produce innovative and uniquely insightful digital tools, like our GIS software, Cadence, to successfully deliver our projects.
Our Energy & Environment team leads complex consulting commissions across a broad range of technical disciplines and technologies. Examples of the projects we deliver includes:
District Heat Network studies (we are a supplier on the Heat Network Zoning DESNZ framework)
Local Area Energy Plans (LAEP) and Local Heat & Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES)
Renewable & Low Carbon Energy Assessments
Alternative Fuel Strategies (e.g. Hydrogen, SAF) and Industrial Decarbonisation
Technology specific research (such as our DACCS work for the Climate Change Committee)
Further information about some example projects we have delivered can be found on our website.
ABOUT THE ROLE
City Science is seeking a Consultant level candidate who can support delivery of our broad range of consulting commissions in our Energy & Environment Team.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a technical background (e.g. physical sciences or engineering), or those with an economics/finance background but with experience of applying these skills to the energy and low-carbon sectors.
Whilst our preference is for candidates with professional experience (2+ years), we encourage applications from those who have recently completed a relevant PhD. Experience in areas such as district heat networks, carbon accounting (particularly scope 3 emissions), local area energy plans, community energy and renewable energy is highly desirable.
You will contribute to the delivery of projects via research, report writing, analysis, and the production of models. Whilst a key requirement of this role is technical proficiency, we also have an expectation that you will contribute to common consultancy non-technical tasks such as project management, bid writing, stakeholder engagement, and client relationship management. We are a small consultancy, and everyone contributes across a range of activities, supports the achievement of business objectives, and helps identify future opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Consultant within City Science’s Energy & Environment team, you will be responsible for:
· Research, modelling, and analysis across a range of energy and net zero projects
· Data analysis (in Excel predominantly).
· Producing high quality reports and presentations for clients
· Supporting business development and the winning of new work, including preparing proposals, identifying new opportunities and promoting our business.
· Providing quality assurance for projects and technical deliverables
· Build and maintain strong client relationships.
After you apply, unlock the direct contact details of the people who actually make the call. A quick follow-up makes you 5x more likely to land an interview.
