Job description

JOB SUMMARY

This is a remote role within the United States.

The Software Engineer III is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering digital product features across the full technology stack. This role contributes to PODS’ digital experience by building scalable, high-quality solutions across React/TypeScript front-end applications and Kotlin/Spring Boot back-end services.

The Software Engineer III owns well-defined technical work from development through deployment, collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering partners while leveraging guidance and code review from senior engineers. The role embraces a test-and-learn approach, using feature flags, experimentation, production data, and iterative development to continuously improve products and customer experiences. The Software Engineer III is expected to demonstrate strong technical curiosity, a commitment to engineering quality, and a willingness to expand technical scope and ownership over time.

A Day in the Life

  • Feature Delivery: Build and ship well-scoped features end to end, with support from your team’s senior engineers on design and integration decisions.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, tested, maintainable code. Participate actively in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback — and grow from it.
  • Test and Learn: Instrument the features you build, help run A/B tests in Eppo, and use experiment results to drive the next iteration.
  • Operational Awareness: Participate in your team’s on-call rotation and incident response. Use Datadog to understand how your services behave in production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product, UX, and QA to turn requirements into working software — and ask clarifying questions early rather than late.
  • Momentum: Ship something real most weeks. We work in short cycles, code released in days, experiments read out weekly, priorities adjusting as results come in. A rhythm built for people who find energy in fast feedback.
  • Growth: Pair with senior engineers on complex integrations (e.g., Salesforce, Snowflake) and steadily take on larger, more ambiguous work.

Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Delivery: Develop features across our stack (React, TypeScript, Kotlin, Spring Boot) with attention to modularity and resilience.
  • Testing & Quality: Write automated tests (unit, integration, E2E) as a standard part of delivery, not an afterthought.
  • Observability: Maintain dashboards and monitors for the features you own, with guidance from senior teammates.
  • Documentation: Contribute to engineering documentation and runbooks so your work is understandable by others.
  • Maintenance: Diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues in the areas you own.

Our Tech Stack

  • Front-end: React, Vite, Next.js, TypeScript.
  • Back-end: Kotlin, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure (Kubernetes, Functions, Front Door), Docker, Helm.
  • Data & Analytics: Snowflake, Salesforce CDP.
  • Experimentation & Observability: Eppo, Datadog.
  • DevOps: Azure DevOps (ADO), Pipelines.
  • AI Tooling: Cursor, Claude.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production software.
  • Full-Stack Foundation: Solid proficiency in React/TypeScript and at least one modern back-end language (Kotlin, Java, C#, etc.).
  • Fundamentals: Working knowledge of RESTful API design, relational databases, and version control workflows.
  • Testing & Quality: Commitment to automated testing and a willingness to adopt a “shift-left” approach to security and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred), containers, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as Datadog.
  • Exposure to A/B testing or feature-flag-driven development.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Cursor).
