We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer specializing in power system studies to join our Major Projects Engineering Team. In this role, you will perform detailed electrical analyses and develop studies that support the design, construction, and operation of high-voltage transmission lines and substations. You will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of critical power infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in power systems analysis, electrical modeling, and utility-scale design, along with a passion for applying analytical expertise to real-world engineering challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, grounding, insulation coordination, and transient stability analyses.
  • Support transmission line and substation design through study-driven recommendations for equipment ratings, relay coordination, and system configuration.
  • Develop and review electrical system models using tools such as ETAP, ASPEN OneLiner, CYME, PSCAD, or PSS®E.
  • Evaluate system performance under normal and contingency conditions to ensure compliance with reliability and protection standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation that summarize study results and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with protection & controls, physical design, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Support clients and internal teams during project planning, construction, and commissioning phases by providing study-based insights and technical guidance.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet industry codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NERC, etc.) and internal QA/QC procedures.
  • Participate in client and interdepartmental meetings to present findings and discuss system performance solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems concentration preferred).
  • 2–5 years of experience performing electrical studies for transmission and/or substation projects.
  • Proficiency with one or more power system analysis software platforms (ETAP, ASPEN, CYME, PSS®E, PSCAD, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of transmission and substation design principles, equipment operation, and protection coordination.
  • Working knowledge of IEEE, NESC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEC standards.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • EIT certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
