Job description

Department:

WDTech - R&D

We are Walker & Dunlop.  We are one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, enabling real estate owners and operators to bring their visions of communities — where people live, work, shop, and play — to life. We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities.

Department Overview

WDTech is W&D’s in-house technology team – a group of collaborative and highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology.

WDTech Engineering builds solutions that impact not only our products but also the people and processes across our organization. A commitment to innovation and a passion for disrupting the old-fashioned real estate industry are our highest priorities.

The Impact You Will Have

As a Data Analyst II, you will contribute to data analysis across the full analytical lifecycle, from exploratory data analysis and shaping data releases to delivering business insights through Power BI dashboards. You will help deliver reliable, high-quality data products that support informed decision-making across the organization.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Senior Data Analysts, BI Analysts, Data Engineers, Data QA Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers, to collect, structure, and analyze data sources and datamarts. Your work will generate product and business insights, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen data quality as we continue to scale as a data-driven organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze and curate existing data sources to help Product and Business stakeholders make informed decisions
  • Own defined components of the analytical lifecycle, from data exploration through insight delivery, with guidance from senior analysts on more complex initiatives
  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Maintain clear technical definitions and documentation to support the accurate interpretation and use of datasets
  • Design, build, and deliver reports and dashboards using Power BI
  • Perform data wrangling and transformations using SQL within analytical databases
  • Partner with data teams to support data management and governance efforts, including developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for data ingestion and datamart creation
  • Analyze user engagement and product data to identify opportunities to optimize operations and improve business outcomes
  • Apply and share best practices in data analysis, visualization, and stakeholder engagement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, including experience contributing to end-to-end analytical projects
  • Experience working with OLAP databases such as Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar platforms
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field
  • Exposure to Python 3.5 or later; experience with geospatial querying is a plus
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong hands-on SQL skills
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Ability to translate non-technical stakeholder needs into clear, user-focused analyses and reports
  • Working knowledge of data ETL and processing techniques
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to support technical documentation, reporting, and testing
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a proactive, team-oriented approach
  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders
