Job description

Company Overview

Index Analytics, LLC, is a rapidly growing, Baltimore-based small business providing health-related consulting services to the federal government. At the center of our company culture is a commitment to instilling a dynamic and employee-friendly place to work. We place a priority on promoting a supportive and collegial team environment and enhancing staff experience through career development and educational opportunities.

Position Overview

The Team Lead (Analytics) will collaborate with customers and staff to define product requirements, build a deep understanding of analytics products, and communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences to deliver impactful solutions. Using Lean-Agile principles, this role is responsible for analytics product development, addressing client needs, and driving outcomes by delivering value through scalable, customer-centered systems.

In this position, the lead will apply policy research, data analysis, visualization, and statistical methods to advise clients on project and product design. Responsibilities include conducting studies, interpreting data, and preparing reports using established research principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. This individual is expected to demonstrate ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness in the application and advancement of sophisticated health services research methods.

Working closely with an Agile team, the lead will clarify technical requirements and mentor data analysts and junior staff in developing analytics products that integrate seamlessly into a high-quality decision-support platform. The role requires independent judgment to identify, expose, and resolve issues related to the development and implementation of research studies and analytic products. In addition, the individual will serve as a consultant to management, contributing to long-range planning and identifying new or emerging areas for research innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex analytics initiatives by planning and executing advanced, analytics-focused technical projects; developing sound experimental and scientific study designs; and overseeing high-quality data analysis and reporting outputs.
  • Own and manage analytics product lifecycles by maintaining and prioritizing product backlogs across multiple analytics products, defining product vision, roadmaps, MVPs, and requirements, and incorporating stakeholder and customer feedback to drive value-based outcomes.
  • Translate product vision into delivered solutions by clearly communicating requirements to developers, testers, and stakeholders; guiding implementation; and demonstrating product functionality to ensure alignment with business and scientific objectives.
  • Produce and communicate high-quality analytical deliverables by preparing, reviewing, and approving complex reports, presentation materials, and draft manuscripts, and translating complex analytical findings for client, management, and scientific audiences through written and oral communications.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor and collaborator by interfacing with client’s subject matter experts, data analysts, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution, while providing expert guidance to management on technical and analytical considerations.
  • Develop team capability and technical rigor by training and mentoring junior staff in advanced data interpretation, ensuring research methods and technical procedures are current and valid, and serving as a technical resource across the organization.
  • Manage direct reports and perform supervisory duties to include review and approval of time and work performed, monitor work performance and escalate issues to senior management, help establish individual goals, and encourage career growth.
