Cloud/AI Developer

Location: Remote/Hybrid at Washington DC, Eagan MN, St Louis MO, Wilkes-Barre PA, San Mateo CA, Raleigh NC, Morrisville NC

Seeking for an experienced Cloud/AI Developer to design, develop, deploy, and support secure, cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have strong backend development experience using Java and Spring/Spring Boot, along with expertise in RESTful APIs, cloud services, image-processing workflows, and AI-enabled application capabilities.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Build and operate secure, scalable, cloud-native applications on GCP.
• Develop applications using serverless and/or container-based architectures.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, including authentication, authorization, documentation, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Develop image-based processing workflows covering capture/ingestion, object storage, transformation, metadata extraction, and lifecycle management.
• Integrate AI capabilities into applications, including computer vision, OCR, classification, extraction, redaction, and similarity search.
• Support evaluation and monitoring of AI-enabled application capabilities.
• Implement secure engineering practices, including IAM, least-privilege access, service accounts, secrets management, encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logging.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or equivalent technologies.
• Create repeatable deployment processes and maintain consistency across application environments.
• Implement application observability using logs, metrics, traces, alerts, and operational runbooks.
• Troubleshoot cloud applications, perform defect triage and root-cause analysis, and resolve production issues.
• Perform application and service performance tuning and recommend preventive improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, DevOps, product, and security teams throughout the application delivery lifecycle.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong professional experience developing backend services and APIs using Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, or similar Java frameworks.
• Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service integrations.
• Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with serverless and/or container-based application architectures.
• Experience with image-centric workflows, including ingestion, object storage, transformation, and metadata management.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications, such as computer vision, OCR, extraction, classification, redaction, or similarity search.
• Understanding of AI evaluation and monitoring concepts.
• Knowledge of cloud security practices, including IAM, service accounts, least privilege, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging.
• Experience with CI/CD and Git-based development workflows.
• Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code (IaC) technologies.
• Strong cloud application troubleshooting, defect-isolation, root-cause-analysis, and performance-tuning skills.
• Experience with application observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and business stakeholders.

• Secure and scalable Java-based cloud-native services on GCP supporting image-processing workflows.
• Well-designed RESTful APIs with appropriate documentation, versioning, and backward-compatibility support.
• Image-processing pipeline components supporting ingestion, transformation, metadata extraction, and lifecycle management.
• AI-enabled capabilities including classification, OCR, redaction, extraction, and/or similarity search.
• CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code assets supporting repeatable deployments.
