Northrop Grumman’s Corporate Sector's Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer / Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to support the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) organization with assessing internal computing environments for cybersecurity compliance. In this hands-on role the selected candidate will be a key contributor to the ongoing assessment activity which is evaluating environments against published standards. The role involves performing security control assessments, developing documentation, guides, and artifacts that will support readiness for 3rd party assessment, and participating in other activities/tasks associated with implementation as needed. Relocation is not necessary for this position but some travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Defense Industry Base (DIB) cyber regulatory requirements established by the DoD Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) 252.204-7012 and 252.204-7021 rules regarding the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in contactor information systems and compliance with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements.

  • Perform security control assessments of internal computing environments using the methodologies and guides utilized by published standards, including, but not limited to, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171 r2 and r3 requirements.

  • Support the development of documentation, guides, and artifacts that will improve computing environment readiness for compliance with NIST SP 800-171 requirements.

  • Collaborate with the larger CISO mock assessment team regarding deficiencies, gaps, and trends identified during assessment activities.

  • Domestic travel up to 25%.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (T03) or Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (T04).

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (T03):

  • 5 Years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree OR 7 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree OR 9 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED.​

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

  • Must have experience with the following Security Frameworks: NIST 800-171 or NIST 800-53.

  • Experience in conducting assessments of security controls using methodologies and guides established by published industry standards.

  • Cybersecurity engineering and architecture experience.

  • Knowledge of risk management principles, including use of a risk-based approach.

  • Experience with interpreting and implementing security compliance standards and guidance including Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (T04):

  • 8 Years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree OR 10 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree OR 12 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED.​

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

  • Must have experience with the following Security Frameworks: NIST 800-171 or NIST 800-53.

  • Experience in conducting assessments of security controls using methodologies and guides established by published industry standards.

  • Experience with interpreting and implementing security compliance standards and guidance including Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional/technical certifications: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, Security Plus, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect.

  • DoD 8570 IAT/IAM Level II or III certification.

  • Experience in areas such as system security, network, and application security.

  • Contributor for architectural/industry changes in the area of cyber security.

  • Experience performing risk assessments of both internally and externally hosted solutions.

  • Experience with evaluating, designing, configuring, implementing cloud services models such as SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.

  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.

  • Experience with operating in an Agile/DevOps environment.

  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python.

  • Advanced knowledge in cybersecurity principles, networking, architecture, servers, systems design, Identity and Access Management.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications.

  • Quickly learn and adapt to new and changing business/technical concepts, requirements, skills, tools.

  • Innovative and strategic thinker who is positive, proactive and readily embraces change.

  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical details to a non-technical audience.

Primary Level Salary Range: $113,900.00 - $170,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
