Join Crimson as an Essay Mentor!

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a top 30 U.S. based college. Individuals who are bilingual Japanese/English and/or Mandarin/English a plus.

These roles are for hourly contractors and will be done remotely.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Working closely with a variety of students based across the world - including the USCA, Asia, Australia, and Europe.

  • Conducting formal essay mentoring sessions with students on a frequent ongoing basis

  • Using curriculum knowledge to deliver high-quality mentoring to Crimson students

  • Providing high quality, clear, feedback to our application year students

  • Preparing students for upcoming essay deadlines and strengthening base concepts in order to improve essay writing skills 

  • Maintaining communication with students outside of formal sessions

What we are looking for

  • Mandarin speakers essential

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a top 30 U.S. College. We will not progress your application without this.

  • US Boarding and Day School knowledge and admissions experience is a must, including proven track record in supporting students towards gaining admission. We will not progress your application without this.

  • Essay mentoring experience

  • You have at least 10 hours of availability to mentor each week

  • You’re passionate about education and enjoy mentoring - ideally you’ve even got some experience mentoring students already!

  • You’re detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills

  • You’ve got fantastic verbal and written communication skills

Required Skills/Qualities

  • Industry knowledge, familiarity with elite boarding and day school admissions expectations

  • Creative mindset, quick thinking on ideating student story improvements

  • Warm/engaging energy working with young students

  • Effective interpretation of parents’ concerns/needs, ability to partner for difficult students

  • High sensitivity/professionalism in communication

  • High attention to detail

  • Adapts in high-stress situations

  • Responds positively to critical feedback

  • Ability to cast long-term vision and narrow to short-term practical strategy
