Job description

About the Role

This is a high-ownership, high-impact finance role at a fast-growing, AI-native insurtech company purpose-built for startups. You'll work directly with the founding team to shape the financial model, craft the company's financial narrative for founders and investors, and surface the business insights that drive strategy and operations. This is a ground-floor opportunity at a well-funded startup operating at the intersection of insurance, AI, and venture-backed technology — with ambitions to build a defining company in the space.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with founders to build, evolve, and maintain the company's financial model.

  • Develop and refine the financial narrative for internal decision-making and investor-facing communications.

  • Derive actionable business insights from financial and operational data to inform strategy.

  • Translate complex financial analyses into clear recommendations for leadership.

  • Create investor-facing materials and decks that communicate performance, trajectory, and opportunity.

  • Operate with a founder mentality — take extreme ownership, move fast, and deliver measurable impact.

  • Help build the financial infrastructure and processes that will scale with the company.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or venture capital, with a track record of delivering rigorous financial models and strategic analyses.

  • Demonstrated experience building and shaping financial models and developing financial narratives for founders and/or investors.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative foundation — background in finance, mathematics, or economics preferred.

  • Proven ability to derive and communicate actionable insights from financial data.

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environments with ambiguity and change.

  • US work authorization required (US citizen or valid work visa); visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to Have:

  • Proficiency with data tooling — SQL, Python, Excel, and/or BI tools — for modeling and insight generation.

  • Experience in insurtech, fintech, or AI-driven financial infrastructure domains.

  • Prior experience creating investor-facing narratives or pitch materials.

  • Startup FP&A experience or exposure to full-stack carrier or underwriting economics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $160,000 – $240,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Equity participation at a well-funded, early-stage company (Seed / Series A stage).

Location

This is an on-site role based in New York, NY. Candidates should be available to work from the New York office full-time. The company is also headquartered in San Francisco, CA.
