You've closed books that survive scrutiny. You've run audits, not just sat in the room for them. But how many of those numbers moved fast enough to keep pace with a customer base adding two million people in a single year?
M-KOPA is one of Africa's fastest-growing fintechs, now serving 7 million customers across five markets, having unlocked over $2 billion in credit along the way. That scale doesn't run on a handful of generalists stretched thin — it runs on people who've mastered financial reporting and are ready to own a real piece of the group's numbers.
Why now
We've gone from 5 million customers to 7 million in the space of a year, and we're building toward 10 million next. That growth doesn't just need more agents and more devices financed — it needs a reporting function built to match it. We're deliberately expanding our group finance bench at the same time, which is why you may have seen more than one of our roles advertised recently. This one is part of that build-out: a small group of senior finance managers, each owning a portfolio of entities, working as peers rather than in a single-controller silo.

What makes this different
Most group reporting roles bury you in one entity, one process, one set of stakeholders, forever. Here, you'll rotate across entities and pick up special projects — funding transactions, new market entries, technical accounting papers — so the work stays broad instead of siloed. Your reporting goes to the CFO and board directly, with no layers of hierarchy sitting between your output and the people who act on it. And the role is genuinely location-flexible: fully remote, or based from one of our operating markets, because we're more interested in your expertise than your postcode.

What you'll be doing
Owning financial reporting for a portfolio of group companies — monthly close, IFRS financial statements, and management commentary that actually drives decisions rather than just documenting them.
Contributing to group consolidation across multiple entities and currencies, prepared to audit-ready standard throughout.
Running year-end audit for your entities end-to-end — planning, managing the auditor relationship, and resolving the technical accounting questions that come up along the way.
What you'll bring
Qualification as a chartered accountant (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent), with extensive post-qualification experience built either in a top-performing Big 4 practice or as a financial reporting specialist in industry.
Demonstrable, hands-on experience preparing IFRS financial statements and group consolidations across multiple entities and currencies — this is the core of the role, not a nice-to-have.
A proven track record of running audits — leading them, not supporting someone else who does.
The reality check
This is a shared-services model, not a solo controller seat: you'll work closely with a Director of Commercial Finance, a Head of Group Financial Reporting, and a Group Financial Controller, and you'll be expected to write clearly enough to brief executives without hand-holding. It suits people who are comfortable operating remotely with international teams, who hold high standards without needing to be the loudest voice in the room — and if that sounds like how you already work, you're probably ready for exactly this.
Let's talk
If group consolidation and IFRS reporting are where you do your best work, and you're ready for a portfolio that rotates instead of stagnates, we'd like to hear from you. No pressure — just worth a conversation if any of this sounds like the work you actually want to be doing.
