Staff Software Engineer (Java) - Data Ingest

As Staff Software Engineer on the Data Ingest team you will help us build the entry point of SentinelOne's Data Platform - pipelines that take in petabytes of data and trillions of events every day and make them available for threat hunting and threat intelligence across the Singularity Platform. We're looking for colleagues who have designed and run large distributed systems in production, like staying hands-on, and can carry a feature or epic from idea to rollout. We have a strong engineering-driven ownership culture and are looking for someone who would strive to apply themselves fully. You would define a significant proportion of the roadmap together with the team and contribute meaningfully to our pipelines’ performance, reliability and cost basis. 

What will you do?

Primary responsibilities include:

• Work on scaling, reliability, observability, cost-efficiency of high-volume data pipelines
• Take loosely defined problems and carry them from proposal through technical spec to production, doing the trade-offs internally as well as with external teams - stakeholders
• Plan and execute deprecation projects for older pipeline solutions that still have live customers
• Participate in technical forums with other senior team members to refine the roadmap and find practical approaches to niche problems
• Use state-of-the-art AI tooling to make yourself more efficient at aspects of the job
• Have a rotating oncall duty with other team members to look over a world-class data pipeline
• Your tools: Primarily modern Java, but you may also come across limited amount of Go, Python; Environments: AWS and GCP, including FedRAMP-regulated; Kafka, Flink, Redis, S3, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub; Claude Code, AI gateway, and other relevant agentic engineering tooling

What skills and knowledge should you bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

• You’re passionate about building high-scale elegant and simple distributed systems - and during the past several years you’ve successfully designed & implemented them to solve complex problems
• You enjoy a collaborative development process using design discussions and code review
• You’re looking for the technical challenges of ingesting and processing petabytes of data daily
• You enjoy writing modern Java, and are in general flexible in learning & using the right tool for the job
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar on large-scale solutions
• You possess a solid foundation in building ingestion pipelines, experience with solving high-volume streaming challenges and scaling
• You can identify relevant improvements/solutions in the literature & bring them into production when they fit
• Deep understanding of technology trade-offs and costs of different options, to keep the system stable and scalable

Salary starting from 5500 EUR/month. Annual bonus based on company performance, paid in two installments. The final base salary may be adjusted based on the individual skills and experience of the selected candidate.
